frank from rumor girls emailed me to say the same thing, zach! i guess it's 5-8 minute vidcasts for me from now on. i only wish the same format would work on both ipod and appletv. it isn't fair to force me to choose!

I meant to add that while I enjoy watching your show for any length of time, I think shorter podcasts work better. This one was a very good length. About 5-6 minutes is really all you need to have a quick chat.

You may notice that this 7-minute episode weighs in at 68.7Mb and your previous episode, 21 minutes, was 60.2Mb, so the increased resolution is having a marked impact on the size of the files. You will want to keep these shorter in order to keep the file size manageable.

I enjoy these little chats and I don't think you need to do them more than once a week. There's plenty of other Anji works to enjoy throughout the week!

Hey Anji,

I had the same problem uploading a half-hour video to podshow. Turns out the file was too big. Podshow currently will only upload files under 200MB.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Zack

Anji, thanks for mentioning me but I wasn't really complaining about your first attempt to increase your podcast resolution--I want podcasters to know if something is broken.

From what you said you're probably aware of http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html. It's technical, but the simplest way to ensure that your podcast is iPod-compatible is to drag your source file into iTunes, select it and choose Convert Selection for iPod from the Advanced menu. If you're using GarageBand, it probably exports in the correct format. The file produced should have a .m4v extension.

Technical issues aside, it played without issue on my Apple TV and image quality was entirely acceptable.
