After a quick catch up with the latest Lovespirals news (BTW, I just got an email from Damien.S saying “This Truth” is now #2 in the World Trance Chart – yowza!) I launch into all the juicy details of meeting Sasha Vujacic of the Lakers at the big John Mayer On His Own concert (Adele opened the show) and how I haven’t been able to sleep since. OK, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but for an old-school social media expert I am definitely a little too excited about his team launching official Sasha Vujacic MySpace and Sasha Vujacic Facebook accounts. Hee hee! Anyway, I hope you enjoy my silly little stories and don’t tease me too much. šŸ˜›

Chillcast Top 20 Podsafe Songs of 2008

I had a lotta fun listening back to all the great podsafe songs that were released last year. So many talented artists made their music available via the Podsafe Music Network and IODA Promonet, which is a beautiful thing… Of course, I’m lucky enough to have many more songs and albums sent to me for what we call “special permissions,” but my tradition is to celebrate the music that was made legal for any and all podcasters to use in their shows. At a time when bloggers are proclaiming podcasting as a dead medium, I think it is especially important for us to appreciate the increasing growth of high quality podsafe music and to support the artists who support the art form of podcasting. Being both an indie artist and podcaster, I can see and experience that wonderful symbiotic relationship from a unique perspecitve, and let me say that I do not think podcasting is dead by a longshot. But hey — its 2009, let’s get this party started!

Grooveblaster CD Featured on Below Zero

As you probably know, I contributed vocals and lyrics to 3 tracks on this album (including a remix of my band,Ā  Lovespirals), alongside great collaborations with Yasi Baby! of Pacha Massive, Laura Harley, and Daca Kopanja. Free Anji Bee Ringtone Set From MacMost

Just in time for the holidays; the gift of free Anji Bee ringtones! I met up with MacMost vidcast host, producer and blogger, Gary Rosenzweig, at the New Media Expo earlier this year and we got to talking about music. I was tickled when he said he’d like to feature me as the first in a series of podsafe musicians for his popular MacMost Ringtone collection.

Los Angeles artist Anji Bee, known for her smooth vocals and music podcasts, can now be heard whenever someone calls you on your iPhone. She is featured on the latest set of ringtones from MacMost.com, the Mac news, tutorial and iPhone content Web site.

MacMost began providing free iPhone ringtones earlier in 2008 as an alternative to pay-per-song downloads at the iTunes music store or illegal music downloads elsewhere. There are now 15 sets of ringtones in the MacMost collection. They feature everything from holiday sounds to short, original musical creations.

“One of the ideas we had for the free ringtones was to use them to promote artists,” said Rosenzweig. “We knew Anji Bee from her work as a podcaster and thought it would be perfect to begin with her.”

The Anji Bee Ringtone Set features sections of Anji’s work with various other artists, as well as her podcast theme and vocal recorded specifically for the ringtone set.

It was fun creating loops of songs from my musical catalog in various electronica genres. I made a mix of ambient vocal passages, lyrical snippets, and spoken word from my collaborations with Bitstream Dream, Chukimai, Kou Chou Ching, The Grooveblaster, Lovespirals, Moosefrog, Snoblind, and War-N Harrison (of Hungry Lucy).
