Holy crap! I’m owed money that I didn’t even know about. Good thing Sam just forwarded me this NY Times story about Soundexchange. I called them just now and determined that they do not have Lovespirals listed, and thus I would have missed out on performance royalties for plays on Pandora, Rhapsody and many other sites and services that I know my music is included on. Since I get checks from BMI, I thought I was covered, but apparently there’s more than one company gathering my money up for me. Sheesh there’s a lot to keep track of when you’re an indie artist!

The Chillcast with Anji Bee Episode 35
[audio:http://media.podshow.com/media/142/episodes/33650/thechillcast-33650-10-30-2006_pshow_30370.mp3]
Amazing how there’s always wonderful new artists to discover on the Internet, isn’t it? I’ve got 5 new folks to introduce to you, plus a collaboration between myself and a returning Chillcast artist. Sometimes I feel bad that I don’t bring back artists sooner; it’s not coz I don’t love ’em, it’s just that there’s so many to choose from! If you’re one of these neglected artists, just gimme a friendly nudge via email, OK?

Chillcast Review on Calmscape
A very nice review of The Chillcast just went up on the Calmscape site today, in the article entitled “Portable Chill” contributed by Plattitude:
The Chillcast is an all-podsafe show with a decidedly hip and sunny attitude. Host Anji Bee (who is one half of the chillout band Lovespirals) eases the listener into the music with her sexy, cool voice, and injects each episode with charisma and ambition. With a focus on emerging artists, The Chillcast spins downtempo electronica, nu-jazz, and chilled R&B, soul and worldbeat. Recent shows have featured artists such as Astrid Suryanto, Sunburn in Cypress, Bitter::Sweet, Chill Factor 5, Quinn and Seiji Toda.

Chillcast Indendence Day Sirius Special
[audio:http://media.podshow.com/media/142/episodes/8654/thechillcast-8654-07-05-2006_pshow_4482.mp3]
I produced a last-minute special edition Chillcast at P-Dub’s request for Sirius Radio as part of Podshow’s Twofer Tuesday. I know I said I’d take the weekend off, but who could say no to the “Satellite Repair Man”? Since I did the work, I figured I’d share it with my faithful listeners. The mix is more upbeat than usual, to keep a nice 4th of July party vibe going. Maybe you can take a listen to this on Friday?
-
Yukijobo “Supernova Sky” Nordic Lounge Weekend: Stockholm (2006) –
- Djavan “Tanta Saudade” Na Pista etc (2006)
- Soular Sound “Things We Do” Jazzflora 2 (2006) –
- Lovespirals “Deep in my Soul” Free & Easy (2005) –
The content was partially taken from several recent episodes, but I created all new commentary for the songs and a bit of new intro, as well. Oh, and there’s new feedback from Roger Smalls!

I’ve had this idea for awhile that I might do occassional mid-week podcasts when I want to chat about something, and it so happens that I am going out of town for the weekend and won’t be able to do my normal podcast. So, I thought I’d launch the Chillcast Chat this week to try and fill that void… I hope you enjoy this abbreviated Chillcast and that you will consider taking part in the Earthlink Advertising Challenge. I’d love to hear some jingles by the bands I feature on the show!
