Today I’m presenting the world premier of a video that’s close to my heart. My musical partner, Ryan Lum, created his very first video for our band, Lovespirals. This lovely music video is set to the songs “Meanwhile Irreplaceable Time Flees” and “Insignificant” from our 2010 album, Future Past. When you buy this CD or digital format album from the Lovespirals Bandcamp Page you also get a copy of this music video, as well as our videos for “Believe” and “Home.”
I don’t know if you’re following me via social media or not, but if you are, then you most likely know that I’ve been going through a rough time recently. I lost my cat of 19 years, Monster, who was born in my house and died in my arms. I’d been giving him intensive care for the past year, as he suffered from 3 strokes and had both kidney disease and high blood pressure, so it wasn’t a surprise, but it still hurts so much. Monster loved music, so this episode is dedicated to him. <3
THE FIRST TIME I HEARD KATE BUSH is Part V in an ongoing series where musicians and writers tell their stories of first hearing the music of an iconic artist or band. In this fifth volume (following the first four installments, which covered Joy Division/New Order, Cocteau Twins, David Bowie, and The Smiths), thirty-nine different musicians and writers remember their initial experiences with hearing Kate Bush, the brilliant, eccentric, influential, and immensely talented British singer/songwriter whose albums include her debut “The Kick Inside,” the classic “The Dreaming” and “Hounds of Love,” and the recent “50 Words For Snow.” The “First Time I Heard” book series is edited by Scott Heim, a novelist (Mysterious Skin, We Disappear) who is also a longtime music fan.

Certainly I could not have imagined such a ravishing creature as she; all limpid eyes and sensual crimson mouth, luminous pale skin contrasting with vivid red hair, at once ferocious yet somehow fragile.
I was woken up early this morning by thunder and its been raining on and off all day. So perhaps its appropriate that my mix tonight is a bit on the dark side. Some might say it’s downright sad. But there’s a certain beauty in sadness, and this mix is certainly proof of that. Look forward to a moody mix of dreampop and electronica in this collection of originals, remixes, and covers – including 2 versions of the classic Mazzy Star song, “Fade Into You.” 11 out of 12 songs today are free downloads, grab your faves from the links below.

Today’s musical guest is Luxembourg artist, Sun Glitters. Last month he uploaded a gorgeous video for his glitchy chillstep track, “The Wind Caresses Her Hair,” on his Vimeo page. This single was released last year on his Bandcamp page as a “pay what you want” release, which means that you can download it free if you wish. Original music video by Hampus Karlsson of the Cargo Collective.
