This week’s has a mellower mood with a focus on more Ambient and Dream Pop styled music. It was inspired by 2 recent Magnatune releases. Noticed I didn’t use any music from Promonet this week, and just one from the Podsafe Music Network. The rest of the lineup comes directly from the bands or labels as special permissions tracks. Thanks to Projekt, Robert Rich, and All India Radio for the use of their music.

Lovespirals announce their brand new digital-only release, This Truth EP, now on iTunes+, Amazon, and Last.FM. The duo discuss their halt on recording, potentially playing live with Shine and Mr. Meeble, the iTunes 8 Genius function, Anji being “obsessive compulsive” with playlists, Pandora‘s troubles with the Copyright Royalty Board, Blip.FM and it’s similarities to Twitter, being #1 on Below Zero, their Drunk Rockers pix, an encounter with Long Beach City Mayor, Bob Foster, and their thoughts on the recent death of Pink Floyd keyboardist and founding member, Richard Wright. The show closes out with Lovespirals’ cover of Pink Floyd’s 1969 song, “Cymbaline.” You can grab this recording free from the NPF tribute CD: None of Us is Pink. You can buy the original version of the song from the lovely More soundtrack album. BTW, it was mentioned that “Great Gig in the Sky” was originally conceived for the Zabriskie Point Soundtrack, but it turns out that it was actually “Us and Them” Anji was thinking of — another amazing song from Dark Side of the Moon. Its a return to form this week with a relaxing mix of chillout tunes with both female AND male vocals. Yes, I do like male vocals, for those that have asked! Will just sent me a copy of his brand new Dive Index CD, Collisions: the Mid/Air Remixes, which is due out officially on Sept 26th. On this week’s Chillcast #127, I played a remix of “Water In Our Hands” featuring the lovely Natalie Walker on vocals. Then I discovered that this CD also contains 2 videos, one of which is for the original version of “Water in our Hands.” The video and animation are by Divya Srinivasan, an amazing Austin artist who worked on one of my all time favorite movies, Waking Life by Richard Linklater, so I had to share this video with you! Hope ya dig it.
