Chillcast #307: 90 Min DJ Mix

I was jonesin’ to do a show this week, and after mentioning that fact on Facebook Friday, folks started encouraging me to give in and just do it. A few people have asked me recently to do another 90 minute mix, so this seemed like a great time to jump in with both feet and explore some of the funkier, sexier, and more upbeat numbers that have been coming in. This extended 90 minute set goes from mid-tempo electrofunk, to slinky downtempo, and then deep house – ending on a super high note of vocal pop house. There’s a mix of vocal and instrumental pieces here, and a number of really great free legal downloads. Enjoy!

For the second time this month, my musical guest is British singer/songwriter, Jamie Woon. I am so addicted to his debut album, Mirrorwriting, that I just can’t get enough! Today I present the mysterious and dreamy video for his original, Burial-produced, mix of “Night Air,” directed by Lorenzo Fonda. The Night Air EP, released in late 2010, also contains 3 other mixes of this lovely tune. The original mix was also featured on my recent Chillcast #306: Sides of Soul.

So did you miss me last week? I have to admit, I missed doing the show. This twice a month thing is going to be hard. Especially when so much good music is coming in. I very nearly skipped doing the show today because I have way too much going on right now, but I’m super excited that my new ‘Put Some Music On’ remix EP on 3345 Music went live on iTunes this week, so I had to share that with you. Returning to Chillcast Video for the first time in nearly 3 years is Parisian band, Shine. After 2 years of silence, the band is set to release a new album next month. Hooray! Today we’re checking out the gorgeous video for the title track, “Judas and Mary,” featuring the band’s new lead vocalist, Julie Gomel. This video was directed by Cédric Mouilleron aand produced by L.I.P. Collectif; starring the beautiful Alix Bénézech. Shine’s album, Judas and Mary, is due out March 8th 2012 on all digital platforms, so you’ll be hearing more from them on my weekly audio show soon!

Chillcast #303: Chillwave & Lovestep

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day last week and that you enjoyed my super smooth chillout set which was part of the 5th annual Cupid’s Hunt Collaboration. This week, I’m going for a slightly different mood. Today’s show is still very dreamy and chill, but with a little glitchiness in the mix. I can barely keep up with all the new genre names popping up left and right, but I believe this set contains a lot of chillwave and lovestep — as Tycho likes to call the kinder gentler forms of dub step.
