‘Put Some Music On EP’ Out Now

Anji Bee’s first single from her upcoming debut solo album was recently released by 3345 Music. The Put Some Music On EP includes The Grooveblaster mix from his latest album, Out Of The Past (which AcidTed described as, “a bit wee small hours, smokier and sleazier” than the original mix), plus a dubby mix by 3345 Music’s own 3C, and 2 brand new remixes by Intensity of Sound, the project of veteran German dance producers, Marcel Grasmück and Kay Praag. The Intensity of Sound “Retro Funk Mix” hit #2 on the Traxsource Lounge Essential 20 list in December and #16 on the Juno Recommends Downtempo list for January, whereas DJ Oxide at Resident Advisor and Urbnet’s Jackhouse Magazine listed the full Put Some Music On EP at #2 on his Top 10 Picks for January 2012.

This week’s show is extra special for several reasons; I’m announcing the release of a brand new Lovespirals remix EP in honor of band founder Ryan Lum’s birthday and I’ve got a remix of the brand new Karmacoda single. Chillcast #271: Summertime Soul

It is now officially summertime on my little part of the globe. Today was our first truly warm day, too. My precious cat, Monster, has been feeling much better, my heirloom tomato plants are producing their first ripe fruits, and things are generally looking pretty dang good! Note: These lyrics were originally penned in 2006 during a Lovespirals songwriting session. 2 versions of this song were created in 2010, the first one for The Grooveblaster and the second one for my debut solo album. I released by version first on the ‘5 Years of Chillin’ compilation, created to celebrate the 5th anniversary of The Chillcast with Anji Bee. Shortly thereafter, Grooveblaster’s album came out with his version. In late 2011, I began working with 3345 Music on a remix EP, which resulted in 2 excellent mixes by Intensity of Sound and one more by 3C. The original mix was also featured on my debut solo album, “Love Me Leave Me,” released in late 2013.

Chillcast #255: Keep It Chill

I’m sick this week and really had to push myself to get the show done. I decided the best thing to do was keep it chill, baby. Gonna practice what I preach LOL! This week’s mix is perhaps just a bit more chill than usual in tone, starting out a wee bit ambient, then coasting along with some very nice vocal lounge and downtempo, and closing out on a slightly higher note. I swear, sometimes the shows just put themselves together. Checked out some cool new promos this week which suggested connections to other recent promos, and before ya know it, I had one tizight little mix goin’ on! Electronica subgenres have evolved to the point that I am seriously confused as to how to classify the music I’m playing — but I think I can safely say there’s some pretty cutting edge stuff here. Look forward to lots of great vocals with personality galore and hooks you can not deny. This is an upbeat but slightly dark set, well suited to late night listening driving alone on an empty highway or just chillin’ with headphones in your bedroom.
