This week’s video is an intriguing mix of vintage 80’s nostalgia and futuristic dance music. I’m told that this video created for Copenhagen DJ duo, Kenton Slash Demon was made by Dark Matters using nails and string, rather than vector based computer programming. Wow! “Daemon” hails from Part 3 of the “The Schwarzchild Solution” trilogy, available through Tartelet Records. Kenton Slash Demon members Jonas Kenton and Silas Moldenhawer are also part of Denmark band When Saints Go Machine, and are joined by Saints’ bandmate, Nikolaj Vonsild, on guest vocals, alongside Jon Philpot of Brooklyn band, Bear in Heaven. Continuing on in a similar vein from last episode, this week I present a moody set of minimal tech house and other related styles. Most of the songs have wonderful vocals, though there is an instrumental or two, as well. I love the hints of soulfulness that kick in towards the end. Lots of brand new tunes included, and a couple are even free downloads! BTW, I’m very excited to present my very latest musical collaboration… I’m even more happy to tell you that my precious little buddy, Monster, is doing better!
Fresh from my trip to San Francisco, I present a 1 hour mix set of deep minimal tech house and soulful deep house. Got some vocal numbers in the mix, but less so than the average Chillcast. I don’t think I’m doing this booty shaking set justice with my description; just check it out, I promise you won’t be disappointed. I swear, sometimes the shows just put themselves together. Checked out some cool new promos this week which suggested connections to other recent promos, and before ya know it, I had one tizight little mix goin’ on! Electronica subgenres have evolved to the point that I am seriously confused as to how to classify the music I’m playing — but I think I can safely say there’s some pretty cutting edge stuff here. Look forward to lots of great vocals with personality galore and hooks you can not deny. This is an upbeat but slightly dark set, well suited to late night listening driving alone on an empty highway or just chillin’ with headphones in your bedroom.
