After 3 years of flaking out, I finally went to visit Joyce for her epitaph project during the LA Day of the Dead festivities last night. She was off the main path from all of the big altars in a small grove of young trees that she hung lanterns from. Ryan and I offered to get her some food from one of the stalls and she was ecstatic when we brought back tamales with mole. I had a frijole e queso pupusa, myself. Joey and Rob seemed a bit reluctant to eat from the stalls. But we had just been enjoying some bread, cheese, marcona almonds and wine at his place… which reminds me of Lou. Mmm… we walked right by it to get to Rob’s and boy was it tempting!
