An unexpected opportunity came up to do something fun midweek, which is our fave time to go on dates. Ryan and I have logged quite a few Disneyland and California Adventure trips, but never seen at the Disneyland Hotel and it’s cute little Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar. Yup, that’s right. Ryan and I have been hanging out for over 2 decades! We decided to celebrate our 23rd dating anniversary with a sunset and taco Tuesday dinner and bring our viewers along for the ride. Anji produced a special vlog for Happy Healthy Vegan showcasing many of the vegan food options at Disneyland’s California Adventure Park. Filmed over the course of several visits, the 10 minute video highlights a dozen different spots that feature plant based options including the new PYM Test Kitchen in Avengers Campus, the Magic Key Terrace, Dia de los Muertes specials at the Plaza de la Familia and much more. If you miss “the sexiest voice in podcasting” then you will really appreciate the dulcet tones of Anji’s voiceovers in this vlog. The video also features the classic song “Our Nights” by Lovespirals, Anji’s band with Ryan Lum, who is also the co-host of Happy Healthy Vegan, as well as Anji’s husband.

Over the past 2-3 years I’ve been filming various scenes I thought would work well with the lyrical concept and I finally took the time to edit them together for this fun must video that contrasts black and white and super colorful scenes. The parasol scenes were shot on Laguna Beach during the performance of ‘The Shoreline Project’ by artist Elizabeth Turk. We had randomly been on site just as 1000 people converged for this performance piece, and it was quite surreal! The carousel and teacups ride scenes were both shot at Disneyland, and the stupa scene was shot at Maui Dharma Center in Paia.

To celebrate the start of a new year, I put together a music video for the title track of our Lovespirals album, “Life Goes On,” featuring some of the more peaceful moments I filmed over the past 12 tumultuous months.
Lovespirals are featured on a new album. “Tim Where Are You Now?” by Sam Rosenthal of Black Tape for a Blue Girl was created to honor what would have been the 100th birthday of Tim Leary this month. It’s a collaborative album packed full of special guests including Lovespirals’ Anji Bee and Ryan Lum (on tracks 6 & 8). “PSY PHI love means High Fidelity” pulls vocal inspiration from the original Star Trek series theme song, and musical inspiration from the classic exotica lounge albums of that same era. This song also features special guests Byron Metcalf and Martin Bowes. The CD is available on Bandcamp, where you can opt to purchase a digital download on the “Name Your Price” deal (meaning you can pay $0 if you want…), and it’s also available to stream on all digital platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.

Extremely chill vibes with super smooth production, “Why Not Today?” pulls from from Lovespirals’ r&b/soul side with a little jazz and blues twist. Melancholic, dreamy, and filled with soft yearning for a better time and place, the video is a lovely reminder of the healing power of nature, even in this time of human disconnection and unease. I created the music video, as well as wrote the lyrics, performed the vocals, and aided in the songwriting and production.
