Chillcast Video #45: Lovespirals
I’m excited to announce the world premier of a brand new video for “Believe” by my band, Lovespirals. I created this video with behind-the-scenes footage taken during writing, recording and production sessions for our album, Future Past. I also included some non-studio footage of Ryan and I filmed during that same time period. We like to think it gives you a better feel for our musical inspirations. “Believe” is our favorite song from the album, so this was a special project to work on. I hope you dig it! Catalina Island Camping
Just got home from a lovely and rejuvenating camping trip on Catalina Island with Ryan. I already miss the gorgeous weather and idyllic conditions over at Little Harbor. We are currently having record high weather in Los Angeles, well in excess of 100 degrees all across the county, including the beaches! If only I were still in Little Harbor, chillin’ with a sea breeze… Some highlights from the trip were unexpectedly perfect weather — since the meteorologists predicted fog and cool temps, being the only campers at the beach front spots for 2 nights, spotting buffalo in camp for the first time, making vegan s’mores around the camp fire all 3 nights, and having AMAZING sunsets with unobstructed views all 3 nights including an awe-inspiring simultaneous sunset and moonrise on the Autumn Equinox. I’m sure that Ryan and I will talk a little bit about our experiences on a Chillin’ with Lovespirals band podcast sometime in the near future.
Chillcast #229: Fantastic
Somehow I managed to say “fantastic” no less than 3 times in the intro of today’s show and I decided that wasn’t half-bad as the subtitle. I’m going with an ever-so-slightly more ambient mix of tunes, with dashes of dream pop, and plenty of downtempo and chillout vibes. Anji Bee on New 7 Day Visa Album
The brand new 7 Day Visa album, Buenos Aires, includes one track featuring Anji Bee. “Que Quiero” is a lovely reworking of a Creative Commons collaboration with Moosefrog from 2007, originally titled “En la Oscuridad.” Jamahl Richardson of 7 Day Visa (and The Shanghai Restoration Project live band) created a completely new arrangement of Bee’s Spanish language lyrics set to his original music, which was inspired by his recent trip to the cosmopolitan capitol of Argentina. Wistful, dreamy, and sensual, this chillout tune is sure to set your mind wandering with memories of warm, lazy days filled with the vibrancy of Summer. Other special guests on this album include German Alejandro Pla, Joseph Allan Johnson, Matthew Szemela, and Lucas Cantor. You can check out “Mano y Mano (ft. Lovespirals ‘Love EP’ Out Now
Lovespirals is the musical project of musician, Ryan Lum, and vocalist, Anji Bee – your humble Chillcast hostess… The first single from our fourth album, Future Past, to get the full remix treatment is “Love” – an atmospheric drum ‘n’ bass tune that recalls some of our earliest work together. A half dozen producers from totally different musical schools of thought set my poppy yet ethereal vocals to completely new musical scores. From angular drum ‘n’ bass, to lush downtempo, to atmospheric ambient music, this moody collection covers a lot of sonic ground.
