I am back with another Top 20 playlist this year, and once again, I’ll share my fave tunes via both Spotify and Apple Music. Wonder if I’ll ever revive The Chillcast again?
The Spotify player above will allow you to stream the full playlist (with commercial breaks) even if you don’t have an account. The Apple Music player below will only play you clips of the songs if you do not have an account.
At long last, one of my favorite songs has been official released! Its been ages since my I dropped a house track, especially as “Lovespirals,” so I’m extra excited for everyone to hear this one.
Lovespirals “Lonely Sunset” Music Video
The perfect end of summer soundtrack, “Lonely Sunset” is a chill house song featuring gorgeously ethereal vocals and bittersweet melodies. It’s been a while since Anji and Ryan released a dance track but this ones worth the wait!
Anji’s plaintive lyrics of lost love were penned and recorded a decade ago and might have made an amazing addition to the 2014 Anji Bee album the duo released as a side project. The late night laid back grooves of this new recording are reminiscent of Bee’s “Got All I Need” and “Try To Forget,” but with an added sheen of sophistication in the production.
Lovespiralshave long straddled the line between dream pop and electronica, but this new track brings both worlds together in a glorious fusion. After the throwback retro shoegaze of the band’s last single, “The Call,” this new single is likely to surprise — but hopefully delight — Lovespirals listeners.
Lovespirals “Lonely Sunset” single is out now on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and YouTube. Please stream, like, share, and add to your playlists to help get the word out!
A new interview with the DIY Conspiracy website discusses the Positive Influence Fanzine Anthology and how DIY ethics have continued to fuel my entire career from music to vidcasting to cookbook creation. I also talked about some of the difficulties I experience as a female creator in a male dominated world, my transition from vegetarian to vegan, as well as the difference in the fanzines I created post Positive Influence days. Quite a few images are shared in this well crafted feature, as well as a link to my Positive Influence Playlist on Spotify. Read Anji Bee: The Story of Positive Influence Zine on DIY Conspiracy.
Anji Bee Interview in DIY Conspiracy
The concept was both being inspired by Posicore music and trying to inspire others in return. As I talked about in my intro, I was living in a fairly dark time and wasn’t in the best life circumstances, either. My partner Buster was going through a lot of personal stuff, as well. I thought this project would be a good way for us to channel our energies in a positive direction, to have something to work on outside of our jobs to give our lives meaning and purpose. I wanted to be a part of the scene, meet the bands, and have interactions with people at shows. Sharing our thoughts about the music, the venues, and the scene itself gave us much needed connection.
Where are my recipe video enthusiasts at? I know you’ve been craving more kitchen time with Anji and *finally* the wait is over! This time around I make my first-ever batch of Baek Kimchi, or white kimchi. I made a vegan version of this non-spicy fermented dish based on Napa Cabbage with some other veggies thrown in for additional flavor and crunch. How did I do? Watch to find out! BONUS: I made a daikon based dish half way through this demo that was a delicious surprise.

In a new video for the Happy Healthy Vegan show, Anji sat down to discuss the Positive Influence Hardcore Fanzine Anthology released by Shining Life Press. Anji explains the process of putting the book together featuring her 1988 posicore and straight edge hardcore fanzine as well as archival materials from her personal collection. Get a peek at her photo books, show flyers, original layouts and more as she shares her story.
Out now on YouTube is the official music video for the new single by Lovespirals, “The Call.” This dreamy video was filmed entirely in and around the band’s hometown of Long Beach, CA, shot and edited by Anji with some post production by Ryan. So many great spots to see sunsets from!
Anji’s duo, Lovespirals, dropped a moody new single on all digital music platforms.
After the deceptively light musical offerings of the 3-song ‘Smile – Single’ Lovespirals return with a darker hued single. “The Call” shares some of the retro-90’s shoe gazer/dream pop vibes of their 2018 album, ‘Life Goes On,’ highlighting the lush guitar work bandleader, Ryan Lum, has long been known for. His soaring solo could easily have been plucked from his 1994 Love Spirals Downwards album, ‘Ardor.’ Hypnotic bass and upbeat drums drive this melancholic song with an unexpected groove, while Anji Bee’s signature blend of earthy low voice and soaring ethereal harmonies lift your soul. Answer the call… it’s a sweet surprise.
Buy a download of “The Call” in your choice of digital format plus a copy of the music video from https://lovespirals.bandcamp.com. Stream “The Call” by Lovespirals on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Mp3, Tidal, Pandora or your fave digital music service. Share “The Call” on your Instagram Reels or TikTok videos to help spread the word!
Anji dropped a fun new Disneyland vlog on the Happy Healthy Vegan show! This is an edited version of the duo’s first-ever Happy Fam members exclusive video released a week ago. You still get a great look at the Main Street Electrical Parade going down Main Street and in front It’s A Small World as well as a peek at the We Don’t Talk About Bruno light show but there’s even more in the members-only vlog. Both versions feature the couple’s current favorite vegan meal in Disneyland and their all-time fave vegan friendly dessert!
Ryan and I just posted the official music video for “Down Low” from our 3-song ‘Smile – Single’ to YouTube. This midnight vibes video highlights our own downtown Long Beach for a moody change of pace. This is the first time Lovespirals have created a music video for every song on a release, and we’re pretty excited about it.
