Ryan and I just posted the official music video for “Down Low” from our 3-song ‘Smile – Single’ to YouTube. This midnight vibes video highlights our own downtown Long Beach for a moody change of pace. This is the first time Lovespirals have created a music video for every song on a release, and we’re pretty excited about it.

Lovespirals new single, “Smile,” combines Ryan’s classic shimmery guitars with a laid back beat, dreamy electric piano, and Anji’s earthy yet ethereal vocals to create a warm and welcoming sound that evokes the sunny beachside lifestyle depicted in the song’s brand new music video shot and edited by the band themselves. Ryan’s scenes were shot along the Palos Verdes cliffside while Anji’s scenes were shot at the Crystal Cove State Park.

Over the past 2-3 years I’ve been filming various scenes I thought would work well with the lyrical concept and I finally took the time to edit them together for this fun must video that contrasts black and white and super colorful scenes. The parasol scenes were shot on Laguna Beach during the performance of ‘The Shoreline Project’ by artist Elizabeth Turk. We had randomly been on site just as 1000 people converged for this performance piece, and it was quite surreal! The carousel and teacups ride scenes were both shot at Disneyland, and the stupa scene was shot at Maui Dharma Center in Paia.

Lovespirals “Why Not Today?” Music Video
Extremely chill vibes with super smooth production, “Why Not Today?” pulls from from Lovespirals’ r&b/soul side with a little jazz and blues twist. Melancholic, dreamy, and filled with soft yearning for a better time and place, the video is a lovely reminder of the healing power of nature, even in this time of human disconnection and unease. I created the music video, as well as wrote the lyrics, performed the vocals, and aided in the songwriting and production.
If you subscribe to Happy Healthy Vegan, you may remember this song from my Maui Vlog. A lot of viewers asked about it, so I thought I’d pop out the music sequence from the vlog and finish it up as a music video so you could appreciate the whole song. This beautiful track has been languishing by the wayside, neglected and apparently forgotten for 5 years… It began as an Aerotek instrumental in 2012 which Anji fell in love with. A hasty vocal demo sent to Aerotek lead to an updated version which received a lot of love here on YouTube. Unfortunately, Aerotek cancelled our contract before it’s scheduled Spring 2013 release, so this amazing remix by Ukranian producer, Mobil, has never seen the light of day. I thought it a shame that nobody should ever hear our work! This is a slightly edited cut of the track.

The first single from Lovespirals’ 2007 album, ‘Long Way From Home,’ was a heart-rending ethereal blues cover of the anonymous American spiritual, “Motherless Child.” It also appears on the ‘Motherless Child EP‘ released September 16, 2007. This video was filmed by Lovespirals’ vocalist, Anji Bee, on a road trip to Sonoma County, California.

“Heartstrings” is a lovely high point in the tracklisting for Lovespirals’ upcoming 5th album. The song is a celebration of the duo’s creative connection and the love that goes into Ryan and Anji’s music. With 3 years of experience shooting, editing and producing videos for their YouTube channel, Happy Healthy Vegan, this creative couple have created what is surely their best and most professional looking music video to date.
