Anji Bee Releases 5 Years of Chillin’

March 2011 marks the 5th Anniversary of The Chillcast with Anji Bee, the twice-nominated “Best Podsafe Music Podcast,” on the Mevio Network. Since 2006, Bee has had over 5 million downloads of nearly 300 audio episodes and 55 video episodes, featuring approximately 1,500 bands and artists in a wide range of electronica genres guaranteed to soothe you and groove you.

To mark this historic occasion, Bee has assembled an hour long compilation, 5 Years Of Chillin’, featuring brand new unreleased tracks by Chillcast regulars MoShang, Chill Factor-5, 7 Day Visa, Lovespirals (Bee’s band with partner, Ryan Lum) and Anji Bee, herself — plus hard to find tracks by Adam Fielding, Mr. Meeble, and The Grooveblaster, as well as a few favorite songs by Ernesto + Markus Z, Under, Science for Girls, Sunburn in Cyrpus, Steve Kilbey + Martin Kennedy, and Karmacoda (who collaborated with Lovespirals on a modern version of the classic Americana spiritual, “Motherless Child”). The album was mastered by Robert Rich of Soundscape Productions, with assistance by Lum – who also shot the cover photograph – while Bee designed the album artwork and attendant promotional graphics.

All of the artists have generously donated their music gratis, and Bee will be making this musical collection available for free download through music sites including Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Last.FM, and Mixcloud. A small pressing of eco-wallet promotional CDs will be available soon.


On top of releasing the 5 Years of Chillin’ comp, Bee is hosting a series of CD giveaway contests on The Chillcast in March and April, from artists including Nu Shooz, Balligomingo, and Karmacoda. Come join the celebration over at www.anjibee.com!

As promised last show, I am taking the week off from producing Chillcast, but I couldn’t leave you hanging this week! The following show was originally produced and released for New Year’s Eve 2007. I’m guessing many new listeners haven’t heard it yet, and old school subscribers haven’t heard it in awhile. I just checked it out and think it sounds pretty sweet! So please enjoy this internationally diverse, podsafe, 90+ minute DJ mix of upbeat house, downtempo, electropop and lounge tracks. Today’s 1 hour show is a pretty classic summertime Chillcast mix; you’ve got a number of genres represented here with both vocal and instrumental pieces. Lovespirals ‘Love EP’ Out Now

Lovespirals is the musical project of musician, Ryan Lum, and vocalist, Anji Bee – your humble Chillcast hostess… The first single from our fourth album, Future Past, to get the full remix treatment is “Love” – an atmospheric drum ‘n’ bass tune that recalls some of our earliest work together. A half dozen producers from totally different musical schools of thought set my poppy yet ethereal vocals to completely new musical scores. From angular drum ‘n’ bass, to lush downtempo, to atmospheric ambient music, this moody collection covers a lot of sonic ground. Chillcast listeners should be familiar with most — if not all — of the contributing producers which includes:  Chill Factor-5, 7 Day Visa, Divasonic, Soul Whirling Somewhere, Falling You, and Xurba.
