Chillcast #232: Edgily Chill

After last week’s extended 2 hour episode, we are back to our standard one hour format this week. I’ve got some slightly edgier stuff in the mix, but there’s still plenty of chill to keep the mood just how you like it. Look forward to a nice balance of vocals and instrumentals, as well as downtempo and upbeat tunes. There’s some truly excellent free downloads by some top shelf artists, so be sure to grab ’em while they’re hot!

man, macedonia, sometimes i think you are the only person out that that gets me musically. i love hearing your feedback and seeing that you appreciate the same cuts i do. don’t you worry, i have some more great tracks lining up for this week. i won’t let you down. 🙂

Lots to talk about on this one, but I’ll offer up my three faves…

Andreya Triana:
She can do no wrong right now. I think her album’s gonna end up on a lot of top ten lists for 2010.

Mux Mool:
The more I hear, the more I love this guy. Next level production: constantly challenging, constantly fun.

Sepalcure:
It’s so cool to see this duo on the same label as Scuba. Scary thing is that Praveen and Machinedrum both make great music of their own.

About six years ago, I spun at a party in upstate New York and that’s where I first met Praveen. He spun a great minimal techno set that night and we really hit it off. Wasn’t too long after that I started hearing his music and was really impressed. So when I’m at work and I hear Sepalcure’s work played on both the Chillcast AND Gilles Peterson’s show, I can’t help but smile. Funny how paths cross.

Eagerly awaiting the next show…
