Chillin’ with Lovespirals #79

After a 2 month hiatus, Ryan and Anji are back with a new episode detailing all the latest and greatest Lovespirals news. The duo chat about their rejuvenating Catalina Island camping trip and the sunset video for “Insignificant” that resulted from their getaway, getting excited about the Lakers’ new season starting, working on music for the upcoming debut Anji Bee album, Ryan’s discovery of the Airwindows audio plug-ins, musical collaborations with Karmacoda (and Beth Hirsch), a Sony Acid Planet remix contest, and more. Check out Anji Bee’s Catalina camping trip blog to view videos and photos from our trip. Read more about the Lomography Diana F+ Camera that the band brought camping. See our post about the sunset video set to “Insignificant” for more details on that. Read Anji Bee’s full questionaire for NPR’s Hey Ladies: Being a Woman Musician Today and see her quote in the NPR piece, Pop Star Pomp, Real World Circumstance. The show closes out with a clip of the brand new recording of “Perfect Boy”.

Catalina Island Camping

Just got home from a lovely and rejuvenating camping trip on Catalina Island with Ryan. I already miss the gorgeous weather and idyllic conditions over at Little Harbor. We are currently having record high weather in Los Angeles, well in excess of 100 degrees all across the county, including the beaches! If only I were still back in Little Harbor, chillin’ with a sea breezeā€¦ Thought you might like to check out some of my photos from my Catalina camping trip over on Facebook. Some of these pix are also on my Anji Bee Flickr account, which you can also see directly on my website in the sidebar.

Some highlights from the trip were unexpectedly perfect weather — since the meteorologists predicted fog and cool temps, being the only campers at the beach front spots for 2 nights, spotting buffalo in camp for the first time, making vegan s’mores around the camp fire all 3 nights, and having AMAZING sunsets with unobstructed views all 3 nights including an awe-inspiring simultaneous sunset and moonrise on the Autumn Equinox. I’m sure that Ryan and I will talk a little bit about our experiences on a Chillin’ with Lovespirals band podcast sometime in the near future.

Return from Paradise

Hiking on Catalina

Back home from a quick camping trip on Catalina Island, feeling a wee bit sunburned but happy. Leaving felt like being expelled from Paradise, I have to admit. Ryan and I had the whole campground to ourselves so we could just totally chill out on the beach, watch the sunset from our favorite hiking spot, and play music around the fire at night without a care in the world…

You can see more of my camping pix on Flickr.
