Karmacoda “My Love (Lovespirals Remix)” Out

Lovespirals have a new collaboration with San Francisco band, Karmacoda out now. B invited Anji and her partner, Ryan Lum, to remix a track from their 2018 album, Intimate. “My Love” featuring the band’s new vocalist Jessica Ford, was the perfect fit for Lovespirals’ chill downtempo vibes. Jessica’s deeper vocal range makes an interesting contrast to Anji’s breathily ethereal backing vocals and Ryan’s production added a compelling dreaminess to the song.

Karmacoda Revealed (Intimate Remixes) is available on all digital platforms now.

Karmacoda ‘Love & Fate’ Album Features Anji Bee

Bay Area band Karamacoda — long time friends of The Chillcast with Anji Bee and sometime collaborators with both Lovespirals and Anji Bee — have just dropped a new album called Love and Fate. Excitingly, Anji collaborated on a duet with band founder, B. “Naive” features lyrics penned by Bee, who recorded her vocals in The Chillcuts Studio with Lovespirals partner, Ryan Lum.

In an interview with Below Zero Beats B said:

“When we wrote our last record Eternal we asked Beth and Anji to join us on vocals for the track Love Will Turn Your Head Around and it was so magical, so beautiful, I wanted to recreate that experience even more”

‘Love and Fate‘ was released March 10, 2015 on Sola Musa Music.

Naive (Lyrics)

Apparently I wrote this lyric in late January 2014,  but its one of those rare times that I don’t recall the moment of creation. I discovered an acapella vocal recording on my iPhone, sung in an old school jazz style which ended with me musing, “That sounds kind of 50’s, huh?” B had originally sent me his musical idea back in 2010 as a potential collaboration for my ‘Love Me Leave Me’ album. At that time I was singing a totally different lyric and melody, called “Secrets.” While it was interesting, I’m glad now that we didn’t pursue that idea, as it wasn’t nearly as sensual or well thought out as “Naive” turned out to be.

Note: The original mix of this song appears on the 2011 Karmacoda album, Eternal, as well as single released that same year. The single also includes a radio edit. The radio edit is the version included on the limited edition blue vinyl release of Eternal. Also of note is that Anji re-recorded her vocals for this new version of the song, whereas Beth, B and Heather’s vocals are all taken from the original recordings. Anji also arranged the vocal samples for the Lovespirals mix, set to new music created by Ryan Lum, including lovely dream pop guitar work..

Currently a semi-finalist for Best Dance/Electronica Song in the 2012 International Songwriting Competition, “Love Will Turn Your Head Around ” – the collaborative effort of San Francisco band, Karmacoda, Parisian singer/songwriter, Beth Hirsch, and So Cal singer/songwriter, Anji Bee – has just been re-released in a series of re-imagined versions by a diverse and talented group of musicians, producers and DJs from around the world. Today’s show is moving away a bit from the spacier sounds I’ve been favoring the past few months into some more solidly pop territory. Of course, you know me, I don’t go in too much for pop music but I do have a soft spot for catchy choruses and big r&b vocals. Returning to the show today are my good friends, Karmacoda. This San Francisco band has been quite prolific the past year, releasing a series of live performance videos, reinterpreting songs from their 4th album Eternal. But now they’re releasing a classic music video for the original mix of their sultry second single, “Epic.” The band enlisted Brazilian videographer, Luis Otavio Feldens, to create another of his unique productions. This is the 3rd video he’s produced for Karmacoda; you can watch the first two on previous episode of Chillcast Video. Well its that time of the year, my loyal listeners, that time of the year we spread holiday cheer. Every year I think I won’t find enough new holiday music to make a set, but once again, I found a ton of new tracks for all of your holiday get-togethers.
