Another loopy episode reflecting on the kindness of fans, the tininess of the podosphere, and the evilness of cats on heaters. I also share a photo of one of the viewers; could it be you?

I should have posted this sooner, but better late than never! On November 14th, David McCandless wrote a glowing review of The Chillcast with Anji Bee for RadioTimes ongoing feature, The Good Podcast Guide. It reads, in part:
Sometimes late-night radio presenters are like those annoying neighbours who have their own taste in “music” turned up too loud. Other times – and these are the best times – it’s like having a cocktail of lovely tunes and honey poured directly into your ear. The Chillcast with Anji Bee is one such show, a collection of mellow dance music from both unsigned and commercial artists.
Anji is the lead singer with a chill-out band called the Lovespirals, and the musicality and silky smoothness of her voice is quite lovely – almost hypnotic. She serves up a weekly supper of late-night musical snacks that almost everyone can chill to. Well-chosen music, voice links that make you feel cosy inside – it all adds up to an essential weekly download.
Also highlighted in this particular episode of the guide are Ricky Gervais (aka “The Podfather” – ha!), BBC Radio’s Mark Kermode, and the UK Wine Show. Not bad company to keep, I suppose.

Ryan and Anji update you in the saga of Ryan’s new Mac Mini and how it affects progress on Lovespirals’ current recording sessions, reminisce about sneaking into NAMM, share Ryan’s “second choice” theory, make a big podcast announcement, and answer listener email, as Anji tries not to cough into the mic.

Looks like it’s been a month to the day that I proclaimed my love for Julien Smith, and I stand by that claim today. In fact, I love him more with every passing podcast, blog entry, and – now – Flickr photo! Seriously, though, what an amazing guy. I had no idea who I was talking to last month, but having followed up on my glib pledge to be the charter member of his cult following, well, I am truly smitten. Lately he’s been talking about how he hesitates to promote In Over Your Head as a Hip Hop music show because people are apparently closed minded about the genre. That is really too bad, because not only does Jules offer more than a mere music podcast, underground Hip Hop has more to offer than the potential listener might suppose, particularly when it is selected by the knowledgeable and socio-politically conscious Jules. Oh! And he actually does play more than Hip Hop, including some very hip Electro tunes. So if you haven’t yet, go check his shit out!

Chill to this dreamy, heavy on the vocal electronica, set featuring 2 tracks from the internet-only women’s rights benefit compilation, Songs for Choice. Feeling more sick now than when I filmed the last Chillin’ with Anji Bee, but I’m trooping on…

Not feeling my best, but didn’t want to let ya down… Another off the cuff ramble with topics that include “what do you do for a living?“, family and friends discovering my podcast, and the secret of my first fanzine. Here’s the link I mention, btw: Die Cast Garden

This week I gave my various PodShow pages a bit of a facelift with new artwork. I’ve been thinking about phasing them all out once I finish archiving all my episodes on this site, but I realized that I’ll miss all the cool reviews listeners put up on The Chillcast page… so maybe I’ll keep the PodShow pages as well as the Anji Bee site. I dunno yet!
Oh, I also started a promos and theme songs page on my site. I know I’m always searching for folk’s podcast promos to play on The Chillcast, so I want to make it easy for others to find mine. I also thought it was cool that Dawn and Drew made their theme music available for listeners to download and use as ringtones, so I copied them! I’ll add more stuff to that page soon, so check back again later.
