Spring is in the air and that can only mean one thing: Spring Cleaning! OK, there might be more pleasant Spring diversions, but if you’ve got a 90 minute set of chilled tracks featuring lovely lady vocalists, well then, it’s really kinda fun. Of course, you can always just listen while you kick back with friends and family, or even while you work at your desk. [Drats! Just realized I played this Essenza track on #59. Oh well! It's a goodie.]
First off, don’t ask me why it’s 7 songs and not 5 songs or 10 songs. All I know is that sexy Mr. Smithtagged me and since I do nothing but listen to music all day I can come up with 7 songs standing on my head. Opinion varies on whether these should be podsafe, free downloads, recent releases etc… I’m kinda going by what iTunes says I’ve been playing the past few weeks (besides the Lovespirals mixes from the CD we’re working on…) For your perusal:
Podcast Alley is featuring me front page for their 6.5 Questions interviews. You’ll see I answered the questions a few weeks back, as I said I’d done only 8 vidcasts at the time (I’m currently at 14)… That plus I’d now rank In Over Your Head in my top 3 regular podcasts.
Looks like it’s been a month to the day that I proclaimed my love for Julien Smith, and I stand by that claim today. In fact, I love him more with every passing podcast, blog entry, and - now - Flickr photo! Rowr… Seriously, though, what an amazing guy. I had no idea who I was talking to last month, but having followed up on my glib pledge to be the charter member of his cult following, well, I am truly smitten. Lately he’s been talking about how he hesitates to promote In Over Your Head as a Hip Hop music show because people are apparently closed minded about the genre. That is really too bad, because not only does Jules offer more than a mere music podcast, underground Hip Hop has more to offer than the potential listener might suppose, particularly when it is selected by the knowledgeable and socio-politically conscious Jules. Oh! And he actually does play more than Hip Hop, including some very hip Electro tunes. So if you haven’t yet, go check his shit out!
Amazing how there’s always wonderful new artists to discover on the Internet, isn’t it? I’ve got 5 new folks to introduce to you, plus a collaboration between myself and a returning Chillcast artist. Sometimes I feel bad that I don’t bring back artists sooner; it’s not coz I don’t love ‘em, it’s just that there’s so many to choose from! If you’re one of these neglected artists, just gimme a friendly nudge via email, OK?

As I’ve mentioned, Julien Smith invited me to guest host In Over Your Head for Sirius last Friday, and I thought it would be fun to share with everyone! The original recording session was like an hour long, so I edited together a condensed version. Just a warning, we used a few naughty words so listen with discretion, please…

-- C.C. Chapman of Accident Hash
"Anji's voice wouldn't be out of place in a smoky jazz or blues bar somewhere down in a dimly lit cellar. Sultry with a voice like syrupy silky satin with a marshmallow middle and a honey topping."
-- Most Recognizable Voices in Podcasting, Sept. 2007
"Cosiness abounds as the silken voiced Anji Bee - lead singer of chillout band Lovespirals - pours a cocktail of mellow dance music. Mmm..."
-- Radio Times, July 2007
"If you're looking for a different brand of 'grown and sexy' in the podcast world, check out Anji Bee. This young lady is bringing it - from production, to her voice, to the music selection - she is doing her thazizzle!"
-- Fave of Friday Favecast
"No other voice in the podosphere is more sultry than Anji Bee."
