Lovespirals & Karmacoda Concert

To celebrate the release of Lovespirals’ new album, Future Past, San Francisco electronica act, Karmacoda, are hosting a very cool Happy Hour event at Harlot. Featuring a Chillcast DJ set, Lovespirals meet & greet and short acoustic set, plus a full Karmacoda performance, this is one party you won’t want to miss! Ryan and Anji will also be on hand to autograph eco-friendly digipacs of Future Past (and their previous 3 albums, as well.) This will be the first time Lovespirals have performed live in San Fran, and their first public performance since 2006, not counting their late-2007 virtual concert in Second Life. This is a very special night and we hope you’ll be there to share it with us! Be sure to arrive early as this event starts promptly at 7pm and ends at 10pm. Please spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, and your favorite social media sites.

Anji’s New Year To-Do List Video

Just popping in via video to wish you all a Happy New Year and to talk about some of the things I am working on for 2010. Gosh! Can you believe it’s already 2010? It sounds so futuristic… But then again, could we have imagined we’d be communicating like this 10 years ago? I was still having trouble uploading 64k mp3s via dialup, for crying out loud! Its absolutely unreal how much the internet has evolved the past decade, and I’m sure we’ll see even more evolution over the next decade. Hopefully you’ll still be following my content stream. Thanks again for your support and love!

My Cubical Is Happy (XtraNormal Vid)

Have you seen the Xtranormal site yet? It allows you to select from various characters and backgrounds — including your choice of gender and language — then animate them using various actions and expressions. Type in what you want them to say and how you want them to say it — even choose which camera angle — and the site turns your script into an animated video. It is way too fun! I had heard of it somewhere, but once I saw it in action – via a video by Ryan Coseboom of Stripmall Architecture, I knew I had to try it out.

“… Now my sad little cubical is filled with beautiful tunes!”

What the heck? Here’s my first movie, about the new Lovespirals album. I think it’s pretty cute, anyway.

“Is Lovespirals that old Goth band?” “No. They are so not Goth.”

Chillin’ with Lovespirals #66

Its been a month and some change since our last episode and our neighbor is still constructing. But then again, so are we! Hear the details on all of that mess, plus using our downtime from recording to redesign anjibee.com and thechillcast.com, the timewarp of going to see The Dead live at the LA Forum, plus a thorough report on Ryan’s new guitar gear and recent musical gear research. Please follow twitter.com/lovespirals for more frequent updates on the band’s activities. Follow Lovespirals on 12seconds for short video content, including stuff from The Dead show and parking lot.

Chillcast Nominated for Podcast Award

Anji with ShowGirls Award 2007
Anji with ShowGirls Award 2007

To my great surprise and delight, I learned that The Chillcast with Anji Bee has been nominated once again for The People’s Choice Podcast Award. I want to thank all of you – whoever you are – that took the time to visit podcastawards.com to nominate your humble hostess. You are the best! Of course, this is just the first step, to win the award, I would need everyone to go back and vote for me between October 23rd and November 6th, 2008. Now, I am much more concerned that all of my fellow Americans vote in the presidential election on November 4th, but it would still be pretty darned cool to win an award for the Best Podsafe Music Podcast!!! I must admit that, as fun as it was to win the group award for ShowGirls in 2007, it would be way more fun to have my very own Podcast Award here in my studio. 🙂

Fan Discovers Lovespirals via MoShang via Second Life

Second Arts Blog

Its always interesting to find out how fans discover my music and podcast, and sometimes the connections are surprising. A recent post on Second Arts blog details Morris Vig’s musical journey, courtesy of Second Life. Apparently a chance MoShang performance in SL lead to the discovery of Lovespirals (via MoShang’s remix of “Motherless Child,” no doubt), as well as The Chillcast with Anji Bee, which of course has always been a strong supporter of MoShang. Even more fun is that MoShang was Vig’s gateway into the chillout music scene. May I be the first to say, “Welcome!”

The Chillcast Lauded on Podcast Asylum

In an ongoing series of spotlights on women podcasters, the Podcast Asylum featured The Chillcast earlier this month. This feature was brought to my attention by fellow podcaster pal, Daniel Johnson Jr., who is quoted in the article as saying:

Anji could read the phone book and I’d probably listen to it. She plays great chillout and electronica music, and I love listening to it at work.

You may also want to peruse their humorous list of Podcast Syndromes; on reflection, I think I may be suffering from a mild case of “Special Editionitis” here on The Chillcast, as I find myself just now celebrating Episode 100, when in fact, I’ve uploaded 130 podcasts to PodShow as of this week!

The Chillcast Featured on PodfinderUK

This week’s PodfinderUK — Ep38, subtitled “Let’s Hear It For The Girls,” features The Chillcast with Anji Bee. A clip of Chillcast Episode #96 is shared, which includes a bit of “One Day” by Shine. Also featured this episode are my ShowGirls co-hostesses, the Rumor Girls and Cali Lewis, as well as fellow PodShow podcasters, Amy Mac, and Gill Mills of Flyposter.

Thanks to lovely show hostess, Jo Laurence, for the recommendation!

More On This Album

Happy All Hallow’s Day, folks! Thought I’d share this awesome little track from Todd Fancey with ya tonight. I was with him earlier today on his me.dium Halloween RockMe Tour which was fun and crazy until Todd’s PC crashed, poor guy. Anyway, his music rocks, in a soft rock 70’s way. You’ll be hearing more on the Chillcast for sure! The next episode is shaping up to be chock full of Americana, dream pop, alt. country, indie rock and pop goodness – quite possibly with no electronica whatsoever. Shock!
