To celebrate the New Year in style, I put together a very special 2 hour mix. The first half is spiritual worldbeat downtempo, while the second hour is upbeat danceable electronica with super positive lyrics. I mixed it DJ style so you can just get really into the music, like I did while I was putting this together for ya’ll. This is a contemplative mix of tunes that is guaranteed to get you feeling good at the dawn of 2010! Oh, and almost every song this show is a free download.

In the midst of all this Christmas madness, I somehow managed to assemble a pretty amazing one hour mix of wintry tunes that may even surpass last week’s holiday episode… This set includes several brand new tracks that are destined to become favorites. Chillcast Video #36: Adam Fielding

This is the last episode of 2009, and wouldn’t ya know it, I was having problems with FinalCut! In desperation, I turned to my old standby, iMovie. So if you notice a difference in the look of the show today, that’s why. Anyway,  I’m very happy to welcome one of my Chillcast favorites, Adam Fielding, to the Chillcast Video Edition!  This British producer and vocalist has been in heavy rotation since releasing Distant Activity, on Magnatune last year. Today’s video is for a song from that album, by the name of “Aurora.” It was created by Fielding’s friend and fellow producer, Tom Pritchard. Chillcast #194: Deep Breath

This week I really needed to just take a deep breath, count to 10, and let it all go… Nothing soothes me quite like music and today’s mix really did the trick for me! Look forward to some great vocal pieces as well as some very nice instrumentals, with a blend of downtempo, ambient electronica, worldbeat and crossover pop genres. With a little bit of Buddhist philosophy thrown in for good measure, this episode is sure to get ya chillin’ out. Oh and more than half of these tracks are FREE DOWNLOADS – yay!

Shine Wins Best Female Vox Garageband Award

Lovespirals first Future Past single, “Shine” has won the Garageband Reviewer’s Pick Award for Best Female Vocals in the Alternative Pop genre for this week. This is an ongoing contest judged by site users, primarily musicians who are also participating in the contest held by this unique i-Like owned music site. Songs are judged in an anonymous fashion, with the reviewer having no information about the track other than the soundfile itself until after they have rated it and posted their review comments.

Quite a haunting song. Nice mood with the Rhodes, and the female singer has a sexy voice which works really well when layered. Reminds me of the French band Air. Good sound, well done.

Today’s show is a bit of a study in contrasts; the music is half mellow and half upbeat — mixing downtempo, electropop, and drum ‘n’ bass — and my personal news is partly sad and partly ecstatic. Be sure to listen through to the end of the show to hear my big dorky fangirl brush with #18 of the Lakers! I’m still debating whether or not I want to put the video on YouTube; poor Sasha is already getting teased enough online without an “OMG OMG OMG” video adding to the craziness.
