Anji Bee Releases 5 Years of Chillin’

Download 5 Years Of Chillin’ for FREE at anjibee.bandcamp.com

March 2011 marks the 5th Anniversary of The Chillcast with Anji Bee, the twice-nominated “Best Podsafe Music Podcast,” on the Mevio Network. Since 2006, Bee has had over 5 million downloads of nearly 300 audio episodes and 55 video episodes, featuring approximately 1,500 bands and artists in a wide range of electronica genres guaranteed to soothe you and groove you.

To mark this historic occasion, Bee has assembled an hour long compilation, 5 Years Of Chillin’, featuring brand new unreleased tracks by Chillcast regulars MoShang, Chill Factor-5, 7 Day Visa, Lovespirals (Bee’s band with partner, Ryan Lum) and Anji Bee, herself — plus hard to find tracks by Adam Fielding, Mr. Meeble, and The Grooveblaster, as well as a few favorite songs by Ernesto + Markus Z, Under, Science for Girls, Sunburn in Cyrpus, Steve Kilbey + Martin Kennedy, and Karmacoda (who collaborated with Lovespirals on a modern version of the classic Americana spiritual, “Motherless Child”). The album was mastered by Robert Rich of Soundscape Productions, with assistance by Lum – who also shot the cover photograph – while Bee designed the album artwork and attendant promotional graphics.

All of the artists have generously donated their music gratis, and Bee will be making this musical collection available for free download through music sites including Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Last.FM, and Mixcloud. A small pressing of eco-wallet promotional CDs will be available soon.

On top of releasing the 5 Years of Chillin’ comp, Bee is hosting a series of CD giveaway contests on The Chillcast in March and April, from artists including Nu Shooz, Balligomingo, and Karmacoda. Come join the celebration over at www.anjibee.com!

Chillcast Joins Club1 Radio Lineup

Long time listener of the show, DJ Wessel Rubensky, invited The Chillcast with Anji Bee to join his newly founded CLUB1 lineup on Nijmegen1 radio. Rubensky is the music advisor for the local Dutch station, which airs on 107.8 FM in Nijmegen and Arnhem City in the Netherlands. The Chillcast closes out a great lineup of international dance music shows broadcasting Saturday night through Sunday morning. You can listen to a high quality live stream at www.nijmegen1.nu

Saturday CLUB1 Lineup:

20-21 (CET) – Ibiza Sensations with DJ Luis del Villar (Barcelona)
21-23 (CET)DJ Theo´s Soulful San Francisco House Sessions (San Francisco)
23-01 (CET)DJ MEB Welcome to My House (London)
01-02 (CET) DJ Northern Monkey (London)
02-03 (CET) – Club 1 Night Stand (Various DJs)
03-04 (CET)Zero–Inch (Vienna/Berlin)
04-05 (CET) – Cooling Down: The Chillcast with Anji Bee (Los Angeles)

It is perhaps not surprising that Rubensky first discovered Bee through the podcast of former Netherlands DJ (and MTV VJ), Adam Curry, who dubbed her “the sexiest voice in podcasting.” Curry founded the Podshow Network (now known as Mevio) in 2005, signing Bee on as one of 30 flagship podcasts for his new media company. Curry also included The Chillcast in his Adam Curry’s Podshow lineup on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Anji Bee on Bloody Mary Release

It may be a well-kept secret but the Jin Choi remix of Bloody Mary‘s recent single, “Arabesque,” features an ethereal vocal sample of Anji Bee culled from the CC Mixter “Freedom to Share” Remix event. The excellent Arabesque EP, originally a Beatport exclusive, is now available on iTunes and Amazon, as well as other digital music stores. You can read more about the project on the Beatportal Taste Test, where DJ Bloody Mary lists Jin Choi’s RMX in her Top 3 songs for November 2010. Listen to the full song on Chillcast #244: Pop Edged or just check out a clip of “Arabesque (Jin Choi Remix)” highlighting Bee’s contribution in the SoundCloud player below. Bee is currently collaborating with Bloody Mary on a new single for Mary’s Dame Music, so keep your ears peeled for it!

Chillin’ with Lovespirals #81: Remix Winner

Anji and Ryan of Lovespirals have selected the Grand Prize winner and Honorable Mention of the Sony ACIDplanet Remix Contest for “Feel So Good”! We know that 40 some producers have been anxiously awaiting our decision since December 28, while we’ve been sorting through all of their entries. Turns out there were several really solid mixes and plenty of great musical ideas! Once again, we thought we’d make our winner’s announcement with a podcast, so we could share a bunch of our faves with the fans and give the producers our thoughts on their tracks. The remixes are presented in no particular order, aside from the winner and runner-up; the Grand Prize Winner is presented first and the Honorable Mention is presented last. The grand prize winner will receive a copy of ACID Pro, 5 ACID loop libraries plus all 4 Lovespirals albums on CD, and will be featured on an upcoming new remix single for “Feel So Good.” Hopefully several other mixes from this list will be included in that, as well. Details on that soon… Thanks again to all the very talented producers for taking part in this fun competition, and thanks to Sony for hosting it!

Anji Bee Releases Holiday Single

“Happy Holidays” is the first all-original holiday song released by vocalist/lyricist, Anji Bee, who’s perhaps best-known as the hostess/producer of weekly electronica music show, The Chillcast. Co-written with Ryan Lum (of Lovespirals and Love Spirals Downwards), Bee has crafted a deceptively bittersweet pop nugget filled with heartugging disco-infused violins, funky bass and wah guitar, and a relaxed house beat with a hint of cool wintry nights wafting through. Bee’s warm, enveloping vocals pleasantly recall Tracey Thorn (of Everything But The Girl) and Karen Carpenter with their laid back yet passionate delivery and personal holiday message.

Sometimes in the midst of the holiday hub bub of parties and pretty blinking lights one finds themselves reminiscing of the past and wanting to reconnect to a long lost loved one… just to say “Happy Holidays!”

Download “Happy Holidays” from the following digital stores:

Podcasters and Internet or Traditional Radio DJs are free to include “Happy Holidays” in their shows. Check out Anji Bee on Mevio’s Music Alley, formerly known as the Podsafe Music Network.
