Rather than simply type up my Top 20 podsafe picks for 2006, I figured I’d put together a special episode of The Chillcast so you can hear them yourself! It was actually pretty difficult to keep the list to just 20, I have to admit. The quality of podsafe music just keeps increasing as the weeks and months go by, and I’m sure there’s still more great tracks from 2006 left for me to discover in coming episodes. A very nice review of The Chillcast just went up on the Calmscape site today, in the article entitled “Portable Chill” contributed by Plattitude:

The Chillcast is an all-podsafe show with a decidedly hip and sunny attitude. Host Anji Bee (who is one half of the chillout band Lovespirals) eases the listener into the music with her sexy, cool voice, and injects each episode with charisma and ambition. With a focus on emerging artists, The Chillcast spins downtempo electronica, nu-jazz, and chilled R&B, soul and worldbeat. So I wandered over to CNET’s music.download.com and was thrilled to find a show’s worth of really high quality free downloads. I started in the Trip Hop section, then slowly branched out into the Electronica genre. I haven’t even tapped into the Jazz or R&B sections yet, but even so, I think I’ve got a pretty sweet mix of chilled styles for ya on this “turning legal age” show.
