Its First Friday and believe me, this is no April Fool mix here, it’s real real. If you’re currently enjoying Spring Break, then you may already be feeling some summer vibes, but I’ve been nursing a sprained ankle, so all I’ve got is music to keep my mood high. This mix flows from melancholic soul and chill urban tracks to way upbeat future beats and bass with a nice pop kick. Lots of great vocals featured, including some primo remixes as well as originals. Now that I’m totally free of any responsibility to networks, I decided to try something different, taking advantage of Mixcloud’s more permissive rules regarding music usage. Today’s mix is made up of original album cuts, rather than bootleg remixes, underground producers or “podsafe” music. I recently discovered the site, FreeLegalMusic, that lets you download free music via your local library, and was surprised by how many great new hip hop and r&b albums and singles they offered! All of these artists have previously been featured on the show, but most of them were remixes, so I thought it would be nice to share their music in its original, intended form. Most people think of me as being super chill and positive but I’ve got a dark side that The Weeknd appeals to. Inspired by seeing him perform recently at The Greek Theatre, I put together another of my infamous NSFW mixes. Its actually a pretty sexy mix, explicit language aside. Abel’s voice is featured heavily, with a combo of collaborations, bootleg remixes, and mashups. Drake, who made an appearance on stage, also figures in this mix.
