Chillcast #249: All New

One might argue that today’s show is the first real episode of 2011 for The Chillcast with Anji Bee. Unlike last week’s collection of my Chillcast Favorites of 2010 (aka Top 20 of 2010), this episode is composed of all new music. I’ve got some brand new releases, additional tracks from a few late-2010 releases, and one or two releases that slipped by me until just recently. All in all, it’s a great little mix with lots of great vocals in a sweet array of moods and styles. Plus there’s several truly excellent free downloads! Oh, and something I forgot to mention; January 9th was the 5th Anniversary of the very first recorded episode of The Chillcast — under the original name “The Chillcuts Chillcast.” More on that soon…

Chillin’ with Lovespirals #81: Remix Winner

Anji and Ryan of Lovespirals have selected the Grand Prize winner and Honorable Mention of the Sony ACIDplanet Remix Contest for “Feel So Good”! We know that 40 some producers have been anxiously awaiting our decision since December 28, while we’ve been sorting through all of their entries. Turns out there were several really solid mixes and plenty of great musical ideas! Once again, we thought we’d make our winner’s announcement with a podcast, so we could share a bunch of our faves with the fans and give the producers our thoughts on their tracks. The remixes are presented in no particular order, aside from the winner and runner-up; the Grand Prize Winner is presented first and the Honorable Mention is presented last. The grand prize winner will receive a copy of ACID Pro, 5 ACID loop libraries plus all 4 Lovespirals albums on CD, and will be featured on an upcoming new remix single for “Feel So Good.” Hopefully several other mixes from this list will be included in that, as well. The first show of 2011 takes a look back at some of my personal favorite tunes from 2010. Unlike my “Top 20 Podsafe Songs Of…” shows of years past, this selection is not confined to only podsafe music. Because I now play more music received directly from promotional companies and bands than ever before, I just couldn’t restrict myself that much. As you’ll hear in the show, I made a last-minute decision to take next week off from the podcast, so this is the final show of 2010. Though its being released on Christmas, this is not a holiday music show. You can check out last week’s episode for a great mix of wintry holiday tunes. Chillcast #245: Long Dark Nights

With the shortened days and long dark nights of winter upon us, I was inspired to create a set of atmospheric tunes with a slightly darker edge. Much less vocal-based than many Chillcast episodes, this mix none-the-less contains a few vocal gems. Genre-wise, there’s a lot of diversity, spanning from worldbeat to drum and bass, Brazilian pop to dub step, minimal tech to deep house, with rad remixes galore. Anji and Ryan sit down together to share all of Lovespirals latest doings. They open the show chatting about the Junip and Sheryl Crow shows they attended last week, including their thoughts on Sheryl’s album, 100 Miles From Memphis, produced and co-written by their favorite guitarist/vocalist/songwriter, Doyle Bramhall II. The duo also give an update on production of the new Anji Bee album, and working on new song as Lovespirals,  plus collaborations with The Grooveblaster and Bart of Audra. Anji discusses the new video for “Believe,” the behind-the-scenes Future Past photoshoot video, and Chillcast Video show. Ryan introduces the official launch of Anji’s Goodies, a food blog with Anji’s vegan recipes and tips, as well as an update to Ryan’s personal blog.The biggest news is Lovespirals’ Sony ACIDplanet remix contest for “Feel So Good” — the band closes out the show with a great remix by 7 Day Visa.
