Today’s musical guest is one of my faves, Ernesto! Ernesto is the pseudonym of Swedish vocalist and producer, Jonatan Bäckelie. He recently announced that he’ll begin releasing music under his given name later this year, and you’re sure to hear that on the Chillcast audio show. Taking a trip down memory lane, this is a brand new video for the 2007 Ernesto classic, “Sick and Tired.” Music video filmed and edited by Johan Eileryd of Entrepreneur.

Today’s show is moving away a bit from the spacier sounds I’ve been favoring the past few months into some more solidly pop territory. Of course, you know me, I don’t go in too much for pop music but I do have a soft spot for catchy choruses and big r&b vocals. As such, there’s actually a few famous vocalists in the mix today, though not always credited on the track. You’ll see what I mean. Returning to the show is Los Angeles act, Active Child, with an awe inspiring new video for “Johnny Belinda.” Dylan Wiehahn directed, photographed and edited this video, which was filmed on the east coast of Australia. This song hails from Pat Grossi’s epic debut album, You Are All I See, released last year. Be sure to check out Chillcast #318 this Friday to hear the slinky White Arrows remix of “Johnny Belinda,” and the haunting Active Child remix of “Crying Game” by Hanna Cohen.

Ain Soph Aur feat. Anji Bee on Internet Archive FREE

An extremely rare recording of an experimental gothic industrial noise project from the mid 90’s featuring Anji Bee is now available for free streaming or download on the Internet Archive. The Long Beach based group, called Ain Soph Aur, was formed when Bee and then partner, Justin Johnsen, met neighbor, Alan Wilkes, through a meeting of the Golden Dawn. Their mutual interests in mystery schools and dark music led to some very interesting musical collaborations. The bulk of When I See You was performed live in one session at Wilkes apartment, while “We’re Not Out Of The Woods Yet” was improvised later at Bee and Johnsen’s apartment. Several other friends collaborated on both recorded and live material with this trio over their short existence, but this particular recording is just the core group.

The band members included vocalists/tape manipulators, Alan Wilkes and Anji Bee, as well as musician/producer, Justin Johnsen, with occasional guest musicians.
