This week I’ve got a chilled mix of downtempo, electropop, and deep house with both male and female vocals – sometimes even in duet. This set straddles the line between ambient and pop, if such a line even exists… It feels a bit wintry, but rest assured, there are no holiday songs. Now I know the episode number listed here is #293, but in actuality, this is my 333rd Chillcast posted to the Mevio Network. Kinda intriguing, huh? OK, not half as intriguing as the lineup I’ve got this week, which includes some pretty amazing legal free downloads from really great artists. This is a pretty classic lineup this week, with a lot of variety, from laid back and loungey, to upbeat electropop, both instrumental and vocal, with a little glitch here, a little retro 80’s vibe there, and plenty of chill in-between. While putting together today’s play list I seem to have taken a bit of a dark turn. In this one hour set of often pop edged electronica tunes, there is quite a bit of darkness, but there’s also a lot of power. With generous helpings of old time blues and jazz amongst the uber  modern electronica productions, there are some very interesting contrasts going on. This week I have a special treat for you on The Chillcast. I’m focusing in on Frankfurt Germany label, Tokyo Dawn Records, for the full hour. A few days ago I was stoked to receive a stack of their recent releases on CD format in my P.O. Box, so I’ve been diving into their catalog ever since. Today’s mix features primarily new releases but also gives you an overview of all their releases going back to 2003.
