Yay! The latest “indie edition” of the legendary Coverville podcast includes Lovespirals‘ rendition of the classic American Spiritual, “Motherless Child.” Ryan and I met Brian Ibbott at the Podcast and New Media Expo last year, where I was accepting an award for my work with the ShowGirls podcast. I slipped him a pre-release copy of our Long Way From Home CD, which he was very enthusiastic about, but what with one holiday after the other these past few months… well you know how these things go. We’re just stoked to make our 2nd appearance on this seminal podcast!
I’m back from the expo, full of excitement! Having missed out on the Accident Mash jam, I present my own little a-cappella performance of the new Lovespirals podsafe single, “This Truth.” By the way, podcasters can grab the original recording for their shows from lovespirals.com/podsafe. I also make a few Lovespirals announcements and such, including the 3 for $30 CD set at lovespirals.com/webstore. Lemme give ya the links to the Dawn & Drew/Adam Curry collabocast and the Daily Source Code #667 that I mention. OH - and check out DSC #669 for my response to Adam, as well!
Ryan and I will be attending the New Media Expo for our 2nd year. I suppose most people don’t think of Ryan as a podcaster, but he is my co-host on the Chillin’ with Lovespirals: Insights of an Indie Band podcast. CC and Karen have both commented on his great voice, which I find to be quite distinct. But even if you don’t recognize his voice, you can’t possibly miss the 6′ 5″ guy with really long hair and exotic baby face wandering around with me. Come up and say “hi” to us, we’re quite friendly and we will have copies of our brand new CD with us, which we’ll be happy to autograph and sell you for the low low Expo price of just $10.00. We’ll be at the ExtemePods & RumorGirls party tonight, so if you’re going — we’ll see ya there!
Our podcast has hit the big 4-0! Update on the new Lovespirals album progress, our New Media Expo 2007 plans - including a ShowGirls meet ‘n’ greet and Lovespirals unplugged performance, review of the B.B. King show at Hollywood Bowl, John Mayer boosted our stats, Chillcast #80 RSS problem and stat anomoly, band email, Love Spirals Downwards reissue update, “Motherless Child” Remix EP news — including a clip from the brand new Chris Caulder (of Beauty’s Confusion) remix! Enter our contest — write a review of Lovespirals’ Windblown Kiss and/or Free & Easy on iTunes for your chance to win a copy of Projekt 200! (Email us a link to the review so we can check it out.) Congratulations to The Mothman for winning the first copy! You may be curious to know who Geshe-la is…
BTW, how did I miss John Mayer’s version of “Chocolate Rain”???
Ooh, it’s a bedcast! I chat about recent events such as Lovespirals being on the Projekt 200 3-CD boxed set, the Anji Bee CD Store, watching David Lynch’s Twin Peaks - The Second Season DVDs, designing the Long Way From Home digipac (and stuff distracting me from that), Mojitos on the beach, ShowGirls‘ surprising Podcast Awards win, my big LinkShare check, and more. Features Lovespirals’ “Motherless Child (MoShang’s No Place Like Home Mix)” from MoShang’s brand new Asian Variations Remix CD.
BTW, I went out and bought the Mbox Mini after recording and it kept kernal panicking my laptop so it looks like I’m taking it back to GuitarCenter for the FastTrack Pro. Anyone using that?

"Anji Bee has the sexiest voice in podcasting!"
-- Adam Curry of Daily Source Code
"Anji's sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet voice... I remember the first time I ever heard her, way back in the day, I said she could read me a Chinese menu or the phone book and I would be all happy!"
-- C.C. Chapman of Accident Hash
"Anji's voice wouldn't be out of place in a smoky jazz or blues bar somewhere down in a dimly lit cellar. Sultry with a voice like syrupy silky satin with a marshmallow middle and a honey topping."
-- Most Recognizable Voices in Podcasting, Sept. 2007
"Cosiness abounds as the silken voiced Anji Bee - lead singer of chillout band Lovespirals - pours a cocktail of mellow dance music. Mmm..."
-- Radio Times, July 2007
"If you're looking for a different brand of 'grown and sexy' in the podcast world, check out Anji Bee. This young lady is bringing it - from production, to her voice, to the music selection - she is doing her thazizzle!"
-- Fave of Friday Favecast
"No other voice in the podosphere is more sultry than Anji Bee."
-- Macedonia, Radio BSOTS
"Anji Bee, a musician and former radio DJ, gives "stage" to artists who might not otherwise be discovered. Bee's podcast exposes me to independent artists I've never heard of, and subscribing to it eliminates the need to forage for new music."
- La Shawn Barber's Corner
"Enjoying The Chillcast. It's seriously awesome. I listen to them like over and over again."
-- Julien Smith of In Over Your Head
"I just love the tunes Anji Bee selects and her comments on them. I no longer have to search for music to be creative; I just susbcribe to The Chillcast."
-- Karen of Rumor Girls
"Like having a cocktail of lovely tunes and honey poured directly into your ear. Well-chosen music, voice links that make you feel cosy inside, it all adds up to an essential weekly download."
-- Good Podcast Guide, Nov 2006
"If you're in the mood for chillout music, this should be your first stop. Her voice alone is the perfect complement for a long drive or any escape from the hectic rush of everday life. You're gonna love it."
-- DJ Come of Age, Nov 2007
