“Spring Raindrops” Lyrics

“Spring Raindrops” Giovanni Perini The Cinematic Sessions: Shanghai (2010)

Itandeiru
Watashi no
Aware na
Kokoro ga
Itandeiru
Watashi no

My poor heart
Oh how it is aching
Can you hear the sound
Of it breaking
Show pity on the one
You’re forsaking
Look at all the love here
Just for the taking

(repeat all)

– by Anji Bee (BMI)

Note: These vocals were originally recorded in 2008 for the CC Asia Band Creative Commons project. My vocal files were also made available to remixers on the CC Mixter site, where Giovanni downloaded them to create this new version. An abbreviated version of these lyrics are featured in the Plastic Chair song, “Dispersion,“ from 2003. My Plastic Chair partner, Chukimai, translated my English lyrics to Japanese.

“Favor Tweet” Lyrics

“Favor Tweet (with Takeru Ishikawa)” CC Asia Band CABACA (2008)

Watashi no (my)
Aware na (poor)
Kokoro ga (heart)
Itandeiru (is aching)

My poor heart
Oh how it is aching
Can you hear the sound
Of it breaking
Show pity on the one
You’re forsaking
Look at all the love here
Just for the taking

Watashi no (my)
Aware na (poor)
Kokoro ga (heart)
Itandeiru (is aching)

— by Anji Bee (BMI)

Note: An abbreviated version of these lyrics are featured in the Plastic Chair song, “Dispersion from 2003. “Favor Tweet” is an instrumental song by Takeru Ishikawa which I added vocals to specifically for the CC Asia Band Creative Commons project. My vocal files were also made available to remixers on the CC Mixter site, so different versions of this lyric have been created by various producers under new titles.

The Chillcast: A Decade of Anji Bee

As promised, here is a special edition of The Chillcast to tide you over. This time around it’s a spotlight on my various musical collaborations outside of Lovespirals over the past decade. I went through my archives and dug up one song per year from the various bands I have lent my vocals and lyrics to, which is actually quite a bit more than is shared here. I hope you dig this glimpse into my personal history.

Anji interview on XtraChill Intensiv

Andreas interviewed me for a special feature on my various musical projects on his new XtraChill Intensiv podcast! The feature includes several tracks each from Lovespirals, Bitstream Dream, and Plastic Chair, giving an overview of my work from the past 5 years or so. This is a bilingual interview, with Andreas speaking in German and English and me just in English. But music is the universal language, right?

“Requiem” Lyrics

“Requiem” Plastic Chair Single (2005)

You know
I can’t even remember
Your number anymore
And sometimes your name eludes me
But your face still stays
Your voice rings in silent ears
Though the feelings have fled
So empty now…
I suppose it always was

He teases me
Making empty offers
He holds out a silver goblet
I reach out to take it
He turns it upside down,
Shrieking, “There’s nothing in it!”

Next, he proffers a delicate box
I turn to accept it
Yet, once again, it is empty
His eyes light with amusement

Then a gilt edged book
Is held out for my inspection
The pages inside are all blank
He squeals with delight

His talk, mysterious phrases
I ponder over each word
He screams, “They mean nothing!”
A peal of capricious laughter
Sounds against the barren walls
He torments me

— by Anji Bee (BMI)

Note: Chukimai took 2 of my old spoken word recordings of poems from the early to mid 90’s and combined them for this post-Plastic Chair song. The original poems were called “Dear John” and “Knight of Cups.”

“I Carry You” Lyrics

“I Carry You” Plastic Chair Single (2003)

I feel the whole world moving through me
Entire populations stirring within me
I feel their lives, their deaths, filling me
I want to embrace them with my body
To mother and encase, to heal with my flesh
I am the embodiment of goodness
I shall touch the ill and make them whole
I am expanding out of all proportion
Rivers course through me, tears and blood
And emotions more dense than earth
I am inescapably pulled by the mighty tide
And pull again in turn with my gravitational field

— I carry you —

I feel the whole world moving through me
Entire populations stirring within me
I feel their lives, their deaths, filling me
I want to embrace them with my body
To mother and encase, to heal with my flesh
I am the embodiment of goodness
I shall touch the ill and make them whole
I am expanding out of all proportion
Rivers course through me, tears and blood
And emotions more dense than earth
I am inescapably pulled by the mighty tide
And pull again in turn with my gravitational field
I am burning with scorching heat at my core
Giving birth with my voice

— by Anji Bee (BMI)

“Dispersion” Lyrics

“Dispersion” by Plastic Chair single (2003)

Watashi no (my)
Aware na (poor)
Kokoro ga (heart)
Itandeiru (is aching)

My days are timeless
Never ending
Too brief for words
Time swirls ’round my feet
Whisking me ahead
Marching me back
Leaving me in limbo
I float

– By Anji Bee (BMI)

Note: Japanese translation by Chukimai, the musical half of Plastic Chair.
