Chandeen feat. Anji Bee “Tomorrow” (2008)

“Tomorrow” is a hidden track at the end of the song titled “Dreaming A Thousand Dreams” from the 2008 album, ‘Teenage Poetry,’ by German band, Chandeen. It features Lovespirals vocalist, Anji Bee. Anji was brought into the recording session at the last moment by the suggestion of fellow Long Beach musician/producer, Mike Brown, who worked with band founder, Harald Löwy, and vocalist, Julia Beyer, on this album. This is a simple photo slide video for the song on YouTube, uploaded in honor of Mike’s recent passing. RIP.

At the behest of Robert Fischer, Ryan and I sat down for a rather long wrap up show for the end of 2008. Lovespirals discuss their use of Twitter, Ryan’s continued tone quest including the Red Witch Deluxe Moon Phaser, Fulltone Mini Deja and Voo Doo Lab Micro Vibe pedals, the Nash Guitar “Do Not Play” list, favorite Will Ferrell films, me liking Paul Rudd, David Lynch, reliced guitars (see Jonathan Wilson AKA Greenwich Village Custom Guitars, see John Mayer’s Fender Custom Shop guitar), the persuit of perfection, our love of BB King and Robert Cray‘s tone, working on a new song (“Feel So Good”) with old lyrics, airplay of “This Truth” remixes by Damien.S and The Grooveblaster, the new Anji Bee Ringtone Set on MacMost, a recent Chandeen interview on Michael Floyd’s site, and more.

Lovely Ladies #9: Ryan Lum’s Ladies

After a year’s hiatus, the show has returned to celebrate the Lovely Ladies of Ryan Lum! Hee hee. This show has been a long time coming, just like the release of new CDs by two of Ryan’s former collaborators, Suzanne Perry and Jennifer Ryan Wilde. I thought I’d put together a set in honor of we female vocalists that have worked with Ryan for your listening pleasure. As for the future of the show, I’m thinking I can do it monthly, and am already looking forward to the next edition, as I have more great music with female vocalists waiting in the wings…

Anji Bee Muxtape Collaboration Mix

I couldn’t resist making a Muxtape of Anji Bee tunes past and present! The idea is so simple its brilliant; quick ‘n’ easy mixtapes you can listen to via computer or iPhone. As a music and podcast creator, its very frustrating to find that folks on iPhones can’t access my content via webpages — well, now they can! To kick it off, I’ve assembled an array of collaborations recorded from 2003 to the present day. And by present day, I mean like last week! Included in the mix is a brand new unreleased track from the upcoming CABACA album assembled by MoShang and PigSkinHead, which I am very excited about. I also threw in my “hidden track” on the new Chandeen album, and for fun, my song from PUSSY: The Musical. There are quite a few obscure tracks here, so check it out when you get a chance. Maybe you’d like to make your own Muxtape?

Just got a copy of the new Melou album and it is great. To celebrate, I’ve got a fantastic mix of “lovely ladies” tunes — all from 2008 — plus a Melou CD giveaway! This is the second 45 minute mix, and I think the extra tracks make it that much more fun. It sure is nice to get back to some vocal driven songs after last week… Oh, and for an extra special treat, stay tuned to the very end of the show for a bit of news directly from Kirsty Hawkshaw!

First Review of Chandeen ft. Anji Bee

The first review of the upcoming Chandeen album, Teenage Poetry was recently posted on the band’s MySpace page:

Teenage Poetry is a long awaited jewel, a breathing, timeless work that rewards the patient listener with a moving, tear-inducing “hidden track” featuring Anji Bee of Love Spirals Downwards. It is lovely that such music is still produced today!” – Ecki Stieg

Some readers are probably scratching their heads wondering who this Love Spirals Downwards is, so I’ll fill you in; that was the original name of Lovespirals way back in 1991 with former vocalist, Suzanne Perry, (who would surely balk at my name being linked to the pre-2000 history of the band). In fact, only 1 song with me has been released as “Love Spirals Downwards” and that was a remix we did for Claire Voyant in 2000, so my vocals weren’t even involved – just my mad mixing skills. 😀

In any case, a very positive review, and one which makes me anxious to hear the rest of the album for myself. Teenage Poetry is due out March 28, 2008 on Chandeen’s own Kalinkaland label.

Anji Bee Guests On New Chandeen CD

chandeen.jpg I contributed vocals and lyrics to what will be a special “hidden” track on the upcoming new album by German band, Chandeen. Entitled Teenage Poetry, the 12 song disc is due out March 2008 on Chandeen’s own Kalinkaland label. As a free album preview for fans, the band are uploading one song per week (or so) to their MySpace page. This will be the first new Chandeen album in 5 years.

“Tomorrow” Lyrics

“Tomorrow” Chandeen Teenage Poetry (2008)

teenagepoetry

And so tomorrow
He leaves
It was my decision
Still I grieve
Still I grieve

By tomorrow
He’ll be gone
Now our love is dead
What have I done?
What have I done?

Tomorrow
He disappears
Once again
I’ll be alone
For the first time in years
The first time in years

— by Anji Bee (BMI)

Note: This is a hidden track at the very end of a song called “Dreaming A Thousand Dreams.” After a long silence, this song begins.
