Bolsa Chica Wetlands Restoration

Went down to Bolsa Chica again, and took some photos of the recently completed inlet, which I believe is the final phase of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Restoration Project. I’m so happy that the developers who were trying to fill in and build on the wetlands were stopped, and not only that, but that the wetlands are now in the process of recovering some of their former glory. Its only been a few weeks since the creation of the inlet, but already the water is cleaner and the birds more abundant. It’s wonderful to see!

Money, money, money

Holy crap! I’m owed money that I didn’t even know about. Good thing Sam just forwarded me this NY Times story about Soundexchange. I called them just now and determined that they do not have Lovespirals listed, and thus I would have missed out on performance royalties for plays on Pandora, Rhapsody and many other sites and services that I know my music is included on. Since I get checks from BMI, I thought I was covered, but apparently there’s more than one company gathering my money up for me. Sheesh there’s a lot to keep track of when you’re an indie artist!

Dia de los Muertos

Anji with altar After 3 years of flaking out, I finally went to visit Joyce for her epitaph project during the LA Day of the Dead festivities last night. She was off the main path from all of the big altars in a small grove of young trees that she hung lanterns from. Ryan and I offered to get her some food from one of the stalls and she was ecstatic when we brought back tamales with mole. I had a frijole e queso pupusa, myself. Joey and Rob seemed a bit reluctant to eat from the stalls. But we had just been enjoying some bread, cheese, marcona almonds and wine at his place… which reminds me of Lou. Mmm… we walked right by it to get to Rob’s and boy was it tempting!

Wow did I have a lot to drink last night… Finally made it out to Lou with an interesting group of folks and found myself drinking glass after glass of the tastiest wine! Started out with white, then progressed to red. Also munched on plates of olives, almonds, cheeses, breads; it was heaven. Joey and Rob talked about their recent trip to Paris and Antwerp, while Jonathan and Danielle shared tales of their European tour, including England, Morocco, and Amsterdam. The last trip I took was to Ontario, CA, for PodShow’s UnExpo — and I didn’t even spend the night! Speaking of Podshow, what the hell is up with their site today?

Breakfast on the beach

Snuck off this morning for breakfast at Crystal Cove. I know, I know, you probably hate me… Fall really is the time of year I go to the beach the most, because I prefer to avoid Summer crowds and am jonesin’ by the time Fall rolls around. I do some of my best thinking down there, so it’s a necessary pleasure.
