Music in my head

I woke up with a Cocteau Twins song in my head, one with a big soaring chorus background vocal, very dramatic. Their song names are so crazy that I honestly don’t know most of them! There was a snatch of lyric, however fleeting, that goes, “You are a woman just as you are a man.” Odd, yes? Anyway, turned out to be “Seekers Who Are Lovers” from Milk & Kisses. I really do love that CD. I prefer their late period material.
I like my horoscope for today: Balancing out the intellect and the heart is a tricky business.

Awesome morning at Bolsa

Anji at BolsaTook some time off from building the site to enjoy the perfect weather watching the local surfers down at Bolsa State Park Beach. Man! Nothing quite like a great morning outdoors to recharge your batteries. Saw my neighbor pal, Brian Anderson, ripping up small waves when I got there. He is really fun to watch; mad style and makes it look so easy. I just found two YouTube videos of “Loaf” which is cool, because he doesn’t have much of a web presence. Too busy surfing, I guess! Didn’t get stellar shots, but put up some pretty pix on Flickr.

On my Shuffle I was listening to Ghost in the Machine, by The Police, which I hadn’t heard in fricken years. I just picked up the CD through lala.com. Man! It blew me away when I was a kid and I think it still holds up today. People think “80’s music” is all fluffy goofy new wave, but this shit is amazing. Their use of reverb alone is great. But the lyrical content – holy crap – it’s even more true now — “Rehumanize Yourself,” “One World”, and “Too Much Information” – come on!

So… great morning/afternoon. Back to work, I guess!

Chillin’ with Anji Bee Vidcast #7

I think this is the first vidcast I did in one take! Let’s see, I gab excitedly about the creation of anjibee.com, my recent conversation with Julien Smith, getting tea from Tom, annoying Ryan Lum with incessant blabbering about Jules and John Mayer and um, stuff. Just watch it already! (OMG, as I was typing this, I got a notification that JM updated his blog! HA!)

Gathering and Sorting

Life honestly seems to be a constant process of gathering and sorting. So much of my time is devoted to this activity. Sometimes I think I should be more classically Buddhist by trying to not own things. I’m not even always aware that I’m collecting things until I notice that I need to organize them or discard them. My house is so tiny that it can’t fit many things in the first place, so just a few things can really make it seem crowded or messy. I’m at a point now where I look around and see small stacks piling up here and there which drives me crazy.

I’ve been listing many CDs on lala.com just recently, but of course, more CDs come back to me… So my large stack of unwanted CDs will be replaced with a similar stack of wanted ones. Which is better, I suppose. I’m stil in the process of digitizing my whole CD collection, which is pretty time consuming. I made smaller bit rate files of many songs back in the early mp3 days, so I’m trying to replace those with 320 aacs now. Plus I’m adding in the artwork, too. Gathering and sorting. Oh, and deleting.
