Chillcast Video #45: Lovespirals

I’m excited to announce the world premier of a brand new video for “Believe” by my band, Lovespirals. I created this video with behind-the-scenes footage taken during writing, recording and production sessions for our album, Future Past. I also included some non-studio footage of Ryan and I filmed during that same time period. We like to think it gives you a better feel for our musical inspirations. “Believe” is our favorite song from the album, so this was a special project to work on. I hope you dig it! Check out the Lovespirals blog post about the HD Video for “Believe.

Anji with Karmacoda at Harlot

Lovespirals will return to San Fran for what is sure to be another great night at Harlot on July 9th. Once again, Anji will join Karmacoda for their amazing rendition of “Motherless Child” from Lovespirals’ 2007 Motherless Child EP, as well as backing vocals on one or two of the band’s original songs. Ryan will be doing iPad DJ sets throughout the night, including a special “Anji Bee” set between live performances by Divasonic and Karmacoda to debut songs from her upcoming new album. He’s sure to include a track or two from Lovespirals’ brand new  Love EP, which includes a remix by Divasonic. Thanks to Sean Yamamoto for the pic of Karmacoda with Lovespirals from the last Harlot show.

Lovespirals Interviewed on Mothpod #177

Ryan and I AKA Lovespirals were recently the special guest hosts on The Mothpod, along with show producer and creator, Zack Daggy. Not only did we answer questions about our latest album, Future Past, but Ryan and I selected 6 songs for the show. We had a lot of fun chatting with Zack via Skype and the show came out really well. You can check out the full shownotes and such on the official Mothpod Podcast #177 entry or just stream or download the show below. You can also read a fun written interview with Ryan and I on Mothpod’s Lovespirals Artist Feature. As part of a full week of Lovespirals love, Zack also selected Future Past as the Mothpod Pick of the Week, featured “Home” on Music Video Wednesday, and presented a video of Lovespirals practicing for our recent Harlot gig in A Day in the Life of Lovespirals. To top it all off, Zack held a contest for a free autographed copy of Future Past. Thanks Zack – you rock!!!

Lovespirals & Karmacoda Concert

To celebrate the release of Lovespirals’ new album, Future Past, San Francisco electronica act, Karmacoda, are hosting a very cool Happy Hour event at Harlot. Featuring a Chillcast DJ set, Lovespirals meet & greet and short acoustic set, plus a full Karmacoda performance, this is one party you won’t want to miss! Ryan and Anji will also be on hand to autograph eco-friendly digipacs of Future Past (and their previous 3 albums, as well.) This will be the first time Lovespirals have performed live in San Fran, and their first public performance since 2006, not counting their late-2007 virtual concert in Second Life. This is a very special night and we hope you’ll be there to share it with us! Be sure to arrive early as this event starts promptly at 7pm and ends at 10pm. Please spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, and your favorite social media sites.

Chillcast Video #37: Lovespirals

I am super excited to present the world premier debut video from my band, Lovespirals! Ryan Lum and I have been creating music together for the past decade, but this is the first time we’ve ever released a music video. I created it myself using HD footage we filmed at the beautiful Newport Back Bay estuary, combined with footage from the ride home after mastering our new album, Future Past, in Northern California. I’m also excited because Ryan and I recorded a brand new version of The Chillcast theme song — which is now smoother than ever — plus I gave the Chillcast Video a new look and feel, from the intro, to the audio, to the show logo. Basically, I’ve been a very busy bee the past few weeks! I really hope you enjoy it all and look forward to your comments. Today’s video is for the song “Home” from Future Past released on iTunes Jan. 1st. Become a fan of Lovespirals on Facebook to interact with the band and fans or just follow Lovespirals on Twitter to keep up with the latest news.

Chillcast Artist of the Month: Lovespirals

Lovespirals is the musical project of musician, Ryan Lum, and vocalist, Anji Bee – your humble Chillcast hostess… We’ve just released our 4th full-length album, Future Past, on our own label, Chillcuts. A limited edition 6 panel eco-friendly digipac was pre-released over the 2009 winter holiday via the Lovespirals webstore, where Ryan and I personally autograph CDs by request from fans — and as a special treat, we have been including a free high-quality mp3 download with all CD sales for instant listening gratification. The official release of Future Past, however, was January 1, 2010 when it launched on iTunes and Amazon.

Our first single is the bittersweet downtempo pop song, “Shine,” which premiered on The Chillcast and has been featured on podcasts and Internet radio stations including Dave’s Lounge, Groovera, Soma FM, and Tranquility Du Jour. “Shine” also garnered “Best Female Vocals” and “Song of the Day” awards from the Garageband music site. Beth Hirsch, reknown for her vocal work on the classic Air album, Moon Safari, called the song’s chorus “unforgettable,” going on to say, “Future Past is easily one of the best chill out albums to welcome in 2010. The album is sexy, moody, bluesy, ethereal – pure Lovespirals”.

Many have said the album sounds like Air and Zero 7, though Chillout Scene blog pointed out, “I think Ryan’s bluesy guitar playing is what makes them unique and even more interesting than Zero 7 since they don’t just stick to acoustic guitar parts and electronic drum and bass tracks.” Music Tap further enthused, “With Manzarek-like keyboards, a masterful bluesy guitar, and an angelic voice, the 11 tracks that you’ll find on this magnificent surprise are not to be missed. Future Past is their masterpiece work to date.”

Stream all of Future Past free from Last.FM who also offer a free download of “Shine”
