This week I will present a 60 min Artist Feature with The Grooveblaster on Chillcast with Anji Bee.

Hear how Gerry had his MySpace account unceremoniously deleted, was denied digital distribution by CDbaby, was contacted directly by a band to ‘cease and desist’, and how he turned his musical career around from outlaw underground remixer to chic retro-lounge downtempo fave of KCRW DJ, Raul Campos, as we preview tracks from his latest album, Cities, Streets, & Bebop Nights.

As I contributed vocals and lyrics to 3 of the tracks, I’m really excited about the album, but honestly, the whole thing is fantastic and includes collabs with the great Yasi Baby of Pacha Massive and posafe artist, Laura Harley, as well as great instrumental tracks with a sexy retro feel. At long last the band have settled on the winner and runner-up of the PLP Remix Contest for This Truth! We know that 60 some producers have been anxiously awaiting our decision since April 1st, and we’re sorry to have kept them on pins and needles, but we needed time to sort through and really listen to all of the entries. There were quite a few really good mixes — more than we even dreamed we’d get! We decided the best, most fun way to announce our faves would be with a podcast, sharing the music and our thoughts on the tracks. We hope that both the contest entrants and our podcast listeners will enjoy it. The remixes are presented in no particular order, except for the winner and runner-up; the runner-up is presented first and the winner is presented last. The grand prize is an 8 gig iPod Touch, a year’s subscription to the PLP Producers’ Vault, and all 3 Lovespirals CDs autographed by the band, plus inclusion on an upcoming remix EP and promotion via the Podsafe Music Network and other online music services.Thanks so much to all of the producers for their hard work and especially to DJ Puzzle of Peace Love Productions and SynthVox for throwing the contest for us!

iprong mag The April 2nd “100% Podsafe” issue of iProng Magazine features a hefty little interview with me, Anji Bee, discussing Lovespirals, going podsafe, getting into podcasting, music licensing, live performance vs studio recording, and much more. Lovespirals Remix Contest

Remix Lovespirals‘ podsafe single, “This Truth,” from their latest album, Long Way From Home, for the PeaceLoveProduction Remix Contest! The finalist will win an iPod Touch, a year’s subscription to the PLP Producer’s Vault, and all 3 Lovespirals’ CDs – personally autographed by Anji Bee and Ryan Lum – plus inclusion on a Lovespirals remix digital EP and CD. The runner-up will win the 3 CDs plus inclusion on the remix EP and CD. Additionally, the top 5 remixes will be offered as podsafe singles on the Podsafe Music Network. The contest began 2/8/2008 and runs until 4/1/2008. Good luck!

Lovespirals on MoShang’s new release

Asian Variations MoShang just released a full length remix compilation entitled, ‘Asian Variations,’ as a free Creative Commons download via asianvariations.com. The 14 track collection includes his “No Place Like Home” remix of Lovespirals’ new single, “Motherless Child,” from their upcoming October 2007 album. You can also stream or download just this track from myspace.com/anjibee or myspace.com/lovespirals, and podcasters can add it to their playlists via Lovespirals’ Podsafe Music Network Page. Plans are underway to release a digital only EP of “Motherless Child” remixes, so watch for news at lovespirals.com!

Adam Curry played our version of “Motherless Child” on his Daily Source Code today, which I just made available for podcasting on his Podsafe Music Network. He also commented that I had emailed him a “nude” photo of myself and a friend… Thought I’d go ahead and share that pic with the world, just to set the record straight. Sexy? Maybe. Nude? Hardly…
