Returning to Chillcast Video this week is, Favorite Flava, from Gothenburg, Sweden. Today’s video for the trio’s song, “Stacy,” features Paul Mac Innes (AKA Psaul) on lead vox. He will be my special guest on the next episode of The Chillcast audio show, as we peruse his soulful catalog of music past and present. You know, Favorite Flava made my Chillcast Top 20 of 2011 podcast, so be sure to check that out, as well!
I hope you all enjoyed last week’s overview of my various musical projects from 2011. This week we’re getting back to the classic show format, with a big batch of new releases. Out with the old, and in with the new, they say! Of course, with it only being January, a lot of the newer releases are really from November and December, when we’re inundated with holiday music and best of playlists. That being said, I’ve got a few brand new tracks in here, as well. And I’ve got some lovely legal free downloads, so don’t miss out on those!
As I mentioned last week, I wanted to put together a show highlighting the various releases I was a part of in 2011. I believe I included all but 1 of these 10 tracks in episodes over the past year, but its been nice to step back and assess all the wonderful songs that I was lucky enough to be a part of. From ambient and minimal to soulful and sexy — including both sung and spoken word pieces — this set runs the gamut of electronic genres. Some of the songs included are legal free downloads, so check for those links below. And don’t forget to leave a comment on my blog to win 1 of 10 free digital downloads of the newly released ‘Walk Away EP [Expanded Reissue]‘ by my band Lovespirals!

Today’s musical guest is one of the founders of Sea to Sun Recordings, singer/songwriter, Sylvia Tosun. Though her music has been featured on The Chillcast several times, this is her first appearance on Chillcast Video. I’m proud to present her stylish video for the Top 5 Billboard Hot Dance Club hit, “World Keeps Turning,” directed by Mike Ruiz and Bec Stupak with styling by The Blonds.
Well it was incredibly tough, but I have whittled down 20 of my favorite tracks of 2011. I could have easily picked out 50, but this set is already 90 minutes long as it is! Now I’ll be the first to admit that this set strays pretty far from the “chillout” genre, but as you know, I listen to all kinds of tunes and this year I was particularly drawn to poignant, intense songs and newly emerging genres, which is reflected in this set. I hope you’ll enjoy these songs as much as I do!

I hope you all have had a lovely holiday season. Today is the last show of year, and tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, so to celebrate, I put together a super sexy extended 45 minute mix of upbeat dance music. Crank it up at your NYE party or just listen to it alone to get into a partying mood. I’ve packed this set with soulful vocals, both male and female, plus plenty of beats and bass to get your booty shaking. Wishing you all a fantastic new year!
This week I’m pleased to present the new video for “Only Bitterness Remains” by my friends, Lovers and Poets. The Silverlake duo of singer/songwriter, Shannon Hurley, and her bassist husband, Ben Eisen, released their debut self-titled album late last year and have been promoting it with a series of shows in the Los Angeles area ever since. If you live in the area, be sure to check out one of their upcoming January shows at Taix Lounge (1/11/2012) or Osaka Hollywood (1/5/2012). The band are offering a limited-time free download of their chill cover of the Nick Lowe song, “Cruel To Be Kind,” on Lovers and Poets Soundcloud page. Be sure to grab it while you can!
Well its that time of the year, my loyal listeners, that time of the year we spread holiday cheer. Every year I think I won’t find enough new holiday music to make a set, but once again, I found a ton of new tracks for all of your holiday get-togethers. Excitingly, 11 songs are free downloads, check out the shownotes for links! This set flows from the serious and sublime to the downright silly, with a mix of traditional and contemporary sounds — and not all of it is strictly electronica. Nearly everyone included has been featured on The Chillcast before, and some of them are regulars, like Karmacoda, who open up the show with a brand new song released free to their fans this week. Merry Christmas everyone!
This week I’ve got a classic Chillcast mix for you with a variety of musical styles running from laid back chillout to high energy trance, and once again, it is holiday music free. OK, there’s one mention of “snow” in Ernesto’s lovely ballad, but that hardly counts. Get ready, though, because next week I’m unleashing my 2011 Holiday Mix — a day early, no less. There 4 free downloads this week, which you’ll find in the shownotes below. Enjoy!
This week I’m proud to present the world premier of a brand new video by Nashville artist, Coury Palermo. Coury has been a guest on The Chillcast audio show many times, for his solo work, as well as his collaborations with Sleepthief and his side-project, The Fury — but this is his first time on Chillcast Video. “Hush” is the stunning first single from his brand new album, The Broken Way We Love, out now on his own Wine&Vinyl records imprint. Get the deluxe digital version of the album including bonus tracks, photos, a digital booklet and more directly from www.courypalermo.com – and be sure to read this blog post about the making of the “Hush” video with Eli Mc Fadden. Listen to “Hush (Sleepthief Remix)” on the recent Chillcast #294: Girls & Boys.
