MoShang just created this very cool Creative Commons based video for his collaboration with fellow Taiwan artist, Chang Jui-Chuan, “Freedom Zen,” from the recent CC Asia Band album, CABACA. The song includes guest performances by guitarist, Chris Bailey, and drummer, Bobo. The video includes photos from the popular photo sharing site, Flickr. This video is a free download on Vimeo! This song is a free download on Jamendo. These vocals are available accapella for remixing on ccMixter.

Chillcast #134: CC Asia Band Contest

Back on The Chillcast #122, I presented a spotlight on the CC Asia Band project that I took part in. At that time, the collection of 21 songs known as CABACA had just been released digitally on the Jamendo and StreetVoice websites. Now the CABACA album has been released as a gorgeous limited edition CD, as well. On top of that, the ccMixter community has been hard at work creating remixes using various files taken from the songs, sometimes a vocal, sometimes an instrument. This episode is a collection of some of those remixes. These songs are all Creative Commons licensed free downloads!

Zack “The Mothman” Daggy is on a much needed vacation from podcasting this month and asked me to step in as a guest host for his weekly music show, The Mothpod. This week’s episode is a spotlight on the CC Asia Band release, CABACA. This 21 song album is the collaborative effort of dozens of artists spanning the Asia-Pacific region in the spirit of share and share alike. Friend of the show, MoShang, was one of the pivotal figures in the completion of this collection of songs, and you can hear his unmistakable stamp on several of the productions. I am very proud to bring you a small taste of the release and strongly encourage you to go download the full set — and if you’re a producer yourself, why not grab the remix files to contribute your own mix to this ongoing project? This is a Creative Commons release so podcasters, radio DJs, Second Life club owners, film makers etc – please feel free to use these songs, as well.

Know ye not that this life is deceit?
Know ye not that enjoyment is illusion?
Know ye not the world is a passing show?
Know ye not that happiness is a dream?
Know ye not that praise and blame is insubstantial?
Know yet not that appearance is the mind itself?

Know yet not that the mind itself is Buddhahood?
Know yet not that the Buddhahood is the body of truth?

When ye reflect, all appearances are compacted out of mind
Contemplate the mind by day and night
From contemplation of the mind comes beatific vision
Abide in that beatitude

Know ye not that the body of truth is truth itself? (x2)

When ye meditate upon these things assiduously
Though ye do not succeed in rooting out desire and hatred
Know that whatever appears is your own mind-stuff

Benoit Cassar released his mix, entitled “Buddhahood,” on his 2010 compilation, ‘Danai, Vol. 2.’
