The Pod 5 launched their very own Pod 5 Idol featuring acapella renditions of podsafe songs by podcasters and podsafe artists, competing for charity. All 15 contestants have pledged to donate $5 each to the charity of the winner’s choice. Participants include Matthew Ebel, Karmyn Tyler, KFC of Skydiver Girls, Cybster DJ, all 5 of the show hosts, and more. Oh, and of course, me! I am competing on behalf of TibetAid, to whom I have recently donated $5 via ChipIn. In return they sent me 3 “Compassion” reminder bracelets with a receipt for my contribution. Nice! Interestingly, 3 of us covered fellow contestant, Matthew Ebel (myself included), and Cybster DJ covered me!
Check out the show and vote for your favorite contestant - once a day, if possible - by emailing vote@podfive.com.
To celebrate the arrival of Spring and warm weather, I present a tasty mix of Brazilian chillout. In my opinion, the voices of Brasil are the sexiest of all and this episode is chock full of lilting Portuguese lyrics for your listening pleasure. Mix yourself a caipirinha and chill…

OK, I swear I am not turning Emo on you guys, I'm just being honest here. I have more bad news, but I tried to temper it with good news, as well. I'm all about taking the middle path if at all possible. Some topics covered include my grandparents, participating in a local historic architecture photo project, Auntie Margaret's funeral, Pod 5 Idol, Tibet and tibetaid.org, Anji guesting on the new Chandeen album Teenage Poetry, upcoming Chillcast and Chillcast Video news, my recent health problems, and how seeing Jose Gonzalez live at The Wiltern raised my spirits. The theme song today is a really really old song I made in Acid that I call "So Good." I thought I'd mix it up, why not?
The Chillcast has got a slightly different vibe this week - especially from last week’s DJ dance mix. I’ve got some brand new artists to the show, and a few old favorites, plus the winner of the Spirits In The Material World CD contest and a reminder of the Beth Hirsch Remix Contest. Oh, and a great new sponsor with a cool deal just for you listeners!

"Anji Bee has the sexiest voice in podcasting!"
-- Adam Curry, Daily Source Code
"Anji's sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet voice... I remember the first time I ever heard her, way back in the day, I said she could read me a Chinese menu or the phone book and I would be all happy!"
-- C.C. Chapman, Accident Hash
"Anji's voice wouldn't be out of place in a smoky jazz or blues bar somewhere down in a dimly lit cellar. Sultry with a voice like syrupy silky satin with a marshmallow middle and a honey topping."
-- Podcast Junky UK, Most Recognizable Voices in Podcasting, Sept. 2007
"Cosiness abounds as the silken voiced Anji Bee - lead singer of chillout band Lovespirals - pours a cocktail of mellow dance music. Mmm..."
-- Radio Times, July 2007
"If you're looking for a different brand of 'grown and sexy' in the podcast world, check out Anji Bee. This young lady is bringing it - from production, to her voice, to the music selection - she is doing her thazizzle!"
-- Fave Nightmare, Cyberspace Soul Pick, Friday Favecast
"No other voice in the podosphere is more sultry than Anji Bee."
-- Macedonia, Radio BSOTS
"Enjoying The Chillcast. It's seriously awesome. I listen to them like over and over again."
-- Julien Smith, In Over Your Head
"I just love the tunes Anji Bee selects and her comments on them. I no longer have to search for music to be creative; I just susbcribe to The Chillcast."
-- Karen, Rumor Girls
"Like having a cocktail of lovely tunes and honey poured directly into your ear. Well-chosen music, voice links that make you feel cosy inside, it all adds up to an essential weekly download."
-- David McCandless, Good Podcast Guide, Nov 2006
"If you're in the mood for chillout music , this should be your first stop. Her voice alone is the perfect complement for a long drive or any escape from the hectic rush of everday life. You're gonna love it."
-- DJ Come of Age, Nov 2007
