Chillcast Video #48: Jaswho? & Divasonic

Divasonic is back again on Chillcast Video with another great San Francisco-based musical collaboration with Jaswho?. “Push” hails from the new album, NuDroid Musik, which is the debut album of veteran live musician, Jaswho?. This music video was created by Divasonic using stunning photography by Jessica Vermette of VoxInLux. By the way, after recording my intros I found out I should have pronounced the artist’s name as “Jays-Who” — sorry Jay!

Chillcast #245: Long Dark Nights

With the shortened days and long dark nights of winter upon us, I was inspired to create a set of atmospheric tunes with a slightly darker edge. Much less vocal-based than many Chillcast episodes, this mix none-the-less contains a few vocal gems. Genre-wise, there’s a lot of diversity, spanning from worldbeat to drum and bass, Brazilian pop to dub step, minimal tech to deep house, with rad remixes galore. Plus there’s some sweet free downloads, to boot! Enjoy.

Anji Bee Releases Holiday Single

“Happy Holidays” is the first all-original holiday song released by vocalist/lyricist, Anji Bee, who’s perhaps best-known as the hostess/producer of weekly electronica music show, The Chillcast. Co-written with Ryan Lum (of Lovespirals and Love Spirals Downwards), Bee has crafted a deceptively bittersweet pop nugget filled with heartugging disco-infused violins, funky bass and wah guitar, and a relaxed house beat with a hint of cool wintry nights wafting through. Bee’s warm, enveloping vocals pleasantly recall Tracey Thorn (of Everything But The Girl) and Karen Carpenter with their laid back yet passionate delivery and personal holiday message.

Sometimes in the midst of the holiday hub bub of parties and pretty blinking lights one finds themselves reminiscing of the past and wanting to reconnect to a long lost loved one… just to say “Happy Holidays!”

Anji Bee Single “Happy Holidays” Out Now

This week’s musical guest is Artemis with Divasonic. These two lovely ladies of electronica from San Francisco make their debut to the vidcast with a brand new collaboration. As I promised on the Chillcast #243, I’ve got the premier of their video for “Truth (Divasonic Cotton Candy Original Version)”. This song is from the duo’s brand new single which includes 8 other fantastic mixes by David G. Earl (aka SFLogicNinja), Colfax, Tyler Stone (Sutro), Daniel Durrett, Celeste Lear, Mijo and Chris James. There are also several very cool limited edition packages to choose from, including the Girls Night Out Package which includes additional remixes and songs by both artists. Sorry this week’s show is a bit late. Things are always crazy around the holidays! But I promise it was worth the wait. I’ve got some great new releases this week. Anji and Ryan sit down together to share all of Lovespirals latest doings. They open the show chatting about the Junip and Sheryl Crow shows they attended last week, including their thoughts on Sheryl’s album, 100 Miles From Memphis, produced and co-written by their favorite guitarist/vocalist/songwriter, Doyle Bramhall II. The duo also give an update on production of the new Anji Bee album, and working on new song as Lovespirals,  plus collaborations with The Grooveblaster and Bart of Audra. Anji discusses the new video for “Believe,” the behind-the-scenes Future Past photoshoot video, and Chillcast Video show. Ryan introduces the official launch of Anji’s Goodies, a food blog with Anji’s vegan recipes and tips, as well as an update to Ryan’s personal blog.The biggest news is Lovespirals’ Sony ACIDplanet remix contest for “Feel So Good” — the band closes out the show with a great remix by 7 Day Visa.

Chillcast #242: Thanksgiving Mix

So I know what all my American listeners have planned for this week; you’re all gonna be chillaxing, kicking back, eating food, having some drinks, hanging out with friends and family, and just generally relaxing. For me, music is always a big part of relaxing and hanging out with folks. So I figured I’d put together a chill, groovy set without any talking between tracks that you can enjoy this week. And for all my international listeners, heck, you can just consider this some bonus downtime! This is a sweet, soulful mix of instrumentals and vocal pieces. Enjoy!
