This week I’ve got a hot mix of nothing but pure soulful house music chock full of gorgeous vocals from some of the finest in the biz. Since recording this episode, I heard its going to rain Friday, so I may delay my trip to BlogWorld/Podcamp LA until Saturday. Either way, keep your eyes peeled for me (and Ryan, of Lovespirals), as we will be giving away free copies of the 5 Years of Chillin’ compilation on CD. Say, you still have time to enter my contests for both Falling You (Adore digipak CD) and Karmacoda (Eternal plus the Epic and Love Will Turn Your Head Around singles on CD) so don’t forget to enter!

I’m not really into holiday themed music, per se, but occasionally I’ll select music to help put you into the spirit of things. Today’s mix is filled with haunting piano and otherworldly vocals, much like September’s “Sad Pianos” episode. If you dug that show, you will love today’s show as well. Not only will you swoon to this mix of piano based or laced new tunes by some top-notch artists, but you will have the chance to enter my big Chillcast Karmacoda Eternal Contest! Also, be sure to pick up the free downloads included in the show notes below. Enjoy!
Enter for you chance to win 1 of 2 copies of the new Karmacoda album, Eternal, on vinyl – OR – a gift pack including the album Eternal on CD plus the Epic – CD Single and the Love Will Turn Your Head Around (feat. Beth Hirsch & Anji Bee) – CD Single. Get all the details on The Chillcast Karmacoda Eternal Contest page. Learn more about the album in this blog post by Anji about Eternal.
Once again, I’ve got a great show for you today, packed with fantastic new releases, and filled with vocals – both male and female. The show flows from guitar driven, ethereal electro-acoustic stuff to mellow electro-pop, to nu-disco, and on to deep house and clubbier tunes, but the ride is so gentle you hardly notice the curves in the road. So anyway, John of Falling You sent me some copies of his brand new 5th album, Adore. Its a gorgeous gatefold digipak release and I’m giving away a copy to one lucky listener! Check out the link below in the show notes for entry details.
Enter for you chance to win a copy of Adore by Falling You on beautiful full-color gatefold digipac format, personally autographed by Anji Bee (contributing vocalist). Get all the details on The Chillcast Falling You CD Contest page. Learn more about the album in this blog post by Anji about Adore.

This week I have a special treat for you on The Chillcast. I’m focusing in on Frankfurt Germany label, Tokyo Dawn Records, for the full hour. A few days ago I was stoked to receive a stack of their recent releases on CD format in my P.O. Box, so I’ve been diving into their catalog ever since. Today’s mix features primarily new releases but also gives you an overview of all their releases going back to 2003. This is a great mix of nusoul, nufunk, electroboogie, downtempo, and deep house with plenty of variety and oodles of soulful vocals. And as an added bonus, some of these are free downloads!

OK, OK, I know Valentine’s Day is a long way off but why wait until February to celebrate love? The longer, darker nights of Autumn are the perfect time to snuggle up with someone special, listening to love songs by candlelight. And the depth and variety of songs reflecting various aspects of love flooding my inbox this month is undeniable. There’s shades of retro everything thrown into this mix, from 70’s disco to 80’s electropop, to 90’s deep house and then some, all with delicious vocals and tantalizing lyrics. So hunker down with your loved one and enjoy!

This week I present my second artist feature with San Francisco band, Karmacoda. This time around we actually met up in Chillcast studio to chat live and in-person about their 4th album, Eternal, released last month. We had a really great time, which I think you’ll be able to hear in our conversation. Since we already got into the band’s history and past releases in my 2007 Chillcast Karmacoda artist feature, this time we focused solely on their new material. I close out the show with the premier of their brand new live acoustic recording of “Feel The Weight” — watch for the video on the next Chillcast Video!
This week’s Chillcast boasts a much more energetic set than usual, even finishing up with a set of vocal trance – a real rarity for the show. There’s also a set of deep minimal and soulful deep house midway through, and a whole clutch of great new songs out of Sweden – including 2 brand new songs by my favorite male vocalist, Ernesto! There’s also a set of 3 fantastic free downloads. While today’s show may be short on traditional “chillout music,” I think you’ll have no problem chilling out to it this Equinox. Enjoy! OH YES — next week I plan to release my special interview feature with Karmacoda, so watch for that!!!
This week the tie that binds my song selections together is the piano. It seems that a number of new songs have come my way with haunting piano melodies, and while a single piano song can stick out amidst my primarily electronica sets, when I started placing them all together, it was magic. I hope you enjoy this beautiful, melancholic set featuring piano in a variety of different musical settings and moods. And don’t forget to check out this week’s Chillcast Video, linked to below. Enjoy!

I’ve packed a lot of music into this 60 minute episode! After last week’s extended dance mix, I thought I’d bring things down a notch and focus in on lyrics this show. Towards the end I present a set of spoken word pieces, followed by 2 chopped up vocal remixes, but the rest are those dreamy vocal tunes you’ve come to expect from Chillcast. Though primarily chillout and downtempo, the pace picks up for the final third, and the whole show includes an interesting mix of styles.

This Labor Day weekend I present an extended 90 minute DJ mix for your listening pleasure. Primarily deep house of various styles, this set is upbeat yet chill, with a mix of vocal and instrumental tunes. There’s some brand new stuff in here, as well as a few tunes I’ve been holding on to for the right occasion. So as not to break the party mood, I kept my voice overs at a minimum, with the shortest of intros and outro and no talking in between tracks. Instead, I had a little fun mixing and cross fading tunes. Enjoy!
