Though Sunburn in Cyprus has been featured on the weekly audio podcast numerous times over the past 5 years, this is the band’s debut on Chillcast Video. Today’s video is for the Apres Beach Mix of “In The Sunshine,” from the extended single of the same name. The Sharif D. Remix was included in my Top 20 Podsafe Tracks of 2008, and the Big Wheel Remix is featured on my brand new compilation, 5 Years of Chillin’, in celebration of the show’s 5th anniversary. Ryan and Anji return after a month’s hiatus to reveal all of the work they’ve secretly been up to in their Chillcuts studios. Its a little known fact that the Chillin’ with Lovespirals podcast turned 5 recently, but the fact that Anji’s podcast, The Chillcast, just turned 5 — due in large part to a new music compilation she just released. 5 Years Of Chillin’ is a 14 track, one hour plus collection of music that represents the overall vibe of Anji’s weekly show. A brand new, unreleased song by Lovespirals is featured, as well as a brand new single by Anji Bee. Listen to the show for complete details on the release, including a lot of backstory about the inspiration, creation, and completion of the album, as well as the various relationships the band have to each of the contributors. NOTE: This song was originally released under the Lovespirals moniker, but after work commenced on Anji’s debut solo album, the duo decided the single was a much better fit for ‘Love Me Leave Me’ than the next band album. The album version is subtly different than the compilation cut, as Anji and Ryan had upgraded their recording studio since the original recording, specifically in the effects chains. Listen closely for subtle differences in Anji’s vocal production, as well as the overall ambiance of the song.

Note: These lyrics were originally penned in 2006 during a Lovespirals songwriting session. 2 versions of this song were created in 2010, the first one for The Grooveblaster and the second one for my debut solo album. I released by version first on the ‘5 Years of Chillin’ compilation, created to celebrate the 5th anniversary of The Chillcast with Anji Bee. Shortly thereafter, Grooveblaster’s album came out with his version. In late 2011, I began working with 3345 Music on a remix EP, which resulted in 2 excellent mixes by Intensity of Sound and one more by 3C. The original mix was also featured on my debut solo album, “Love Me Leave Me,” released in late 2013.

March 2011 marks the 5th Anniversary of The Chillcast with Anji Bee, the twice-nominated “Best Podsafe Music Podcast,” on the Mevio Network. Since 2006, Bee has had over 5 million downloads of nearly 300 audio episodes and 55 video episodes, featuring approximately 1,500 bands and artists in a wide range of electronica genres guaranteed to soothe you and groove you.

To mark this historic occasion, Bee has assembled an hour long compilation, 5 Years Of Chillin’, featuring brand new unreleased tracks by Chillcast regulars MoShang, Chill Factor-5, 7 Day Visa, Lovespirals (Bee’s band with partner, Ryan Lum) and Anji Bee, herself — plus hard to find tracks by Adam Fielding, Mr. Meeble, and The Grooveblaster, as well as a few favorite songs by Ernesto + Markus Z, Under, Science for Girls, Sunburn in Cyrpus, Steve Kilbey + Martin Kennedy, and Karmacoda (who collaborated with Lovespirals on a modern version of the classic Americana spiritual, “Motherless Child”). The album was mastered by Robert Rich of Soundscape Productions, with assistance by Lum – who also shot the cover photograph – while Bee designed the album artwork and attendant promotional graphics.

All of the artists have generously donated their music gratis, and Bee will be making this musical collection available for free download through music sites including Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Last.FM, and Mixcloud. A small pressing of eco-wallet promotional CDs will be available soon.
