Lovespirals on Coverville Podcast #474

This week’s “indie edition” of the award-winning Coverville podcast includes Lovespirals’ rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Welcome to the Machine.” This track was recorded in 2006 for a fan-created tribute compilation called NPF Tribute Vol. 2: The Return of the Sons of Neptune available as a free download from the Neptune Pink Floyd site. While you’re there, you can also grab our cover of “Cymbaline” from the NPF Tribute Vol. 1: None of Us is Pink. Thanks to Brian for featuring Lovespirals for the 3rd time on his great show! I really enjoyed the selections this episode, so be sure to check out Coverville #474 for a good time. šŸ˜€

Lovely Ladies #9: Ryan Lum’s Ladies

After a year’s hiatus, the show has returned to celebrate the Lovely Ladies of Ryan Lum! Hee hee. This show has been a long time coming, just like the release of new CDs by two of Ryan’s former collaborators, Suzanne Perry and Jennifer Ryan Wilde. I thought I’d put together a set in honor of we female vocalists that have worked with Ryan for your listening pleasure. As for the future of the show, I’m thinking I can do it monthly, and am already looking forward to the next edition, as I have more great music with female vocalists waiting in the wings…

I’m a day late, but this is still very worth checking out! I participated in TGrundy’s special Color Him Father Collabocast released yesterday, alongside my podcasting friends Fave Nitemare, EJ Flavors, and Darren Keith, plus the lovely Anewlis. Now this is not a podsafe music show like The Chillcast is, but I still wanted to feature an indie artist who seriously deserves some recognition. That artist is singer/songwriter Celia Chavez who recently released an album inspired by her father called Sailor’s Daughter. As fate would have it, she sent me the CD this month – perfect timing for this show. Better yet, Celia took the time to record an intro talking about how her father inspired her music and this wonderful, warm album. So please take a listen to this very personal collection of songs and thoughts put together in honor of Father’s Day.

Back from camping and back at it… This week I present a fairly upbeat mix featuring yet more lovely ladies on vocals. We’ve got several remixes and lots of electronica in this 45 min set, plus the winners of the Rosey CD Contest, and a great limited time offer from my new sponsor, Drobo! Don’t miss my mini-feature with talented singer/songwriter, Celia Chavez, on the “Color Him Father Collabocast” this Father’s Day over at the RhythmsInBlackSatin site.

Anji Bee Muxtape Collaboration Mix

I couldn’t resist making a Muxtape of Anji Bee tunes past and present! The idea is so simple its brilliant; quick ‘n’ easy mixtapes you can listen to via computer or iPhone. As a music and podcast creator, its very frustrating to find that folks on iPhones can’t access my content via webpages — well, now they can! To kick it off, I’ve assembled an array of collaborations recorded from 2003 to the present day. And by present day, I mean like last week! Included in the mix is a brand new unreleased track from the upcoming CABACA album assembled by MoShang and PigSkinHead, which I am very excited about. I also threw in my “hidden track” on the new Chandeen album, and for fun, my song from PUSSY: The Musical. There are quite a few obscure tracks here, so check it out when you get a chance. Maybe you’d like to make your own Muxtape?

I’m heading out for a little island getaway this week so I thought I’d get in the mood with this 45 min mix of exotic international chillout tracks. Whether you’re in sunny California or cold grey Australia, this set is sure to perk up your spirits! All but one of these songs are available on eMusic, so I’ve linked to each album page for your convenience. I hope you’ll go check out the free trial over at emusic.com/chillcast before my deal runs out!

Just got a copy of the new Melou album and it is great. To celebrate, I’ve got a fantastic mix of “lovely ladies” tunes — all from 2008 — plus a Melou CD giveaway! This is the second 45 minute mix, and I think the extra tracks make it that much more fun. It sure is nice to get back to some vocal driven songs after last week… Oh, and for an extra special treat, stay tuned to the very end of the show for a bit of news directly from Kirsty Hawkshaw!

“Favor Tweet” Lyrics

ā€œFavor Tweet (with Takeru Ishikawa)ā€ CC Asia Band CABACA (2008)

Watashi no (my)
Aware na (poor)
Kokoro ga (heart)
Itandeiru (is aching)

My poor heart
Oh how it is aching
Can you hear the sound
Of it breaking
Show pity on the one
You’re forsaking
Look at all the love here
Just for the taking

Watashi no (my)
Aware na (poor)
Kokoro ga (heart)
Itandeiru (is aching)

— by Anji Bee (BMI)

Note: An abbreviated version of these lyrics are featured in the Plastic Chair song, “Dispersion from 2003. “Favor Tweet” is an instrumental song by Takeru Ishikawa which I added vocals to specifically for the CC Asia Band Creative Commons project. My vocal files were also made available to remixers on the CC Mixter site, so different versions of this lyric have been created by various producers under new titles.
